What do you wear in summer of your legs aren't fabulous?

I'm a fairly standard size 10 but have horrible pale blotchy corned beef legs that stubbornly refuse to tan, so end up wearing jeans and vests in summer all the time. What else can I wear? I'm so bloody unimaginative these days! Everything 'summery' in the shops looks horrifyingly thigh-skimming or boho maxi style which would not suit me at all! Confused

Embrace your legs!

Sorry not helpful!

Linen trousers or culottes (if you like them, they're fashionable but personally I don't like them)

Knee length skirts, Bermuda shorts? I like these from fat face www.fatface.com/shorts/bermuda-chino-shorts/invt/912325#ff_colour=Heather

My legs have never seen the light of day.
I'm too short for maxi dresses and I carry too much weight round my middle to get away with harem style trousers without looking like a frump.

So I wear jeans. Or jeans.

Sally Hansen Airbrush legs. I don't tan (real or fake) and this is like waterproof makeup for legs which needs soap to wash it off, covers up veins/bruises etc a bit and gives a nice colour. I use a fake tan mitt to put it on, and its done in a couple of minutes.

I don't like showing off my legs either. So I do wear maxi dresses or longer skirts, cotton trousers, palazzos ..and jeans.

If its not the shape of your legs that is bothering you, there are quite a few cover up lotions available that will do the job.

I think once they're out and you realise everyone isn't looking at them it feels ok. Try a frock and see what happens?

QuickSticks · 08/06/2016 10:46

I've bought the blackberry dress from Boden and a nice skinny belt. I have the Sally Hansen airbrush legs and a mitt....... but so far I've avoided bottled it. I'm a size 8-10 but cursed with cankles, chunky calves and I'm only 5ft 2. I've probably only worn a knee length dress a handful of times over the past decade and that alone makes everyone do a double take when I am brave enough to venture out in something over than trousers!

I'm a 10/12 but am not keen on going bare-legged, mainly because I need to shave twice a day to be stubble-free. (Waxing is useless because the growing out period is grim and it only lasts about three days.) I've got quite a few "midi dresses" which have a short sleeve and wear them with Supergas, Nike Roshe or sandals, and usually a denim jacket, depending on the weather. I think they are a flattering length on me - I'm 5ft 6 - and limit the amount of deforestation needed.

Taranta · 08/06/2016 11:30

Yes you see I've got the cankles thing too - it's a bugger! And thread veins. Nice! DH tells me it's all in my head but I'm just not happy exposing anything from mid calf upwards really! And my legs are always several shades lighter than my arms and face, so I look like my bottom half has been swapped for someone else's. Capris trousers it is then!
