Clothes tips for exaggerated pear shape with awful legs?

I need a new summer wardrobe (well, all seasons really but let's take it one at a time!). I am a really OTT pear shape - size 8 on top with tiny only created by padded bra boobs and size 12 on bottom with thunder thighs and bum. Thighs fairly muscly from lots of cycling and running but GInormous!
Have terrible thread/varicose veins on lower legs (untreatable with lasers according to charming depressingly rude lady in laser clinic) so feel very uneasy about putting them on show but I know it's inevitable as knee-length skirts with vest tops are a summer staple - maybe this is a bad choice though?!
Can't find cropped trousers that look good, really struggling to look in the mirror at the moment!

herecomesthesun I really like that dress too, though I would never have been able to pick it out ... I think I have got so used to clothes being made to look good on people without big hips that I can't pick out styles that suit my shape.

I'll have to look out for a budget version of that dress - I love halter necks.

Lazycake that blog is really good I just had a peek ... I am an 'A' shape apparently - did the quiz.

This outfit is the kind of thing I wish I had the shopping time, and money, to put together (and the right occasion to wear!)

Guardian longer length dresses

Next linen parallel leg trousers? I'm a 10-12 on top and 12-14 on bottom. 5ft3. I bought a pair In navy in a size 14. They are a smidge tight but always give after wearing. They are suite a slim straight leg.

You look perfect in both pics Smile

You look to be exactly the same shape as me. I also worry about looking unbalanced, and padded bras are my saviour.

I used to avoid skinny jeans/jeggings but have found the Jade jeggings from White Stuff to be very comfortable and flattering on me. I also wear straight leg jeans and have a pair of boyfriend jeans from M and S (bought a couple of weeks ago) that fit well and look good.

You're not exaggerated pear, you're mildly pear!

You look terrific in the second pic- so yeah I'd go for fitted tops/tight tops that draw the eye upwards:

I'll have to go hunting for Next linen trousers and M&S boyfriend jeans - thanks so much for the recommendations! Had a clear out this weekend and made a pile of jeans I will officially never wear again - pointless aiming for skinny thighs at this point, better to sell on eBay and get stuff that fits!

Apologies for the wrong information. The jeans are relaxed skinny, not Boyfriend. They seem to be made for pear shapes.

Wore this to work today. Was a bit worried though that skirt emphasised widest part of me (top of thighs)? Had to wear a cardi as it was chilly. A pp mentioned ballerina crossover cardigans - does anyone know where I could get one, maybe black?
Wore ballerina pumps today but are there any shoes which help to even out big hips?

I really like that skirt, and you notice the pattern, rather than your hips. A slightly sorter, more boxy jacket might balance it out more than the cardi.

PutAPlasterOn · 16/06/2016 12:26

Running- you really don't have hips/thighs you need to balance out. The skirt looks lovely and you look in proportion and slim.

On the Wallis website they have a tool to put in your measurements and they'll plan a capsule wardrobe based on your shape. I don't normally shop in Wallis but found their website helpful Smile
