Remind me what a sparkly jumper says about a woman?

I bought this in the toast post-sale sale, as it said it had a "subdued glimmer" which I thought sound rather sophisticated. In RL it looks as if it's had a pot of glitter poured over it (admittedly it does have glitter in its name but I was distracted by the other bit)

I actually like it but I seem to remember sparkly tops being the ultimate sign of naff mumsiness or some such, according to Style Court of Mumsnet. Enlighten me please as to what message I will be sending out.

I like them as long as they are discreetly sparkly - ie not completely covered with sequins - and not too tight or low cut. And dress them down, not up. Don't wear anything else sparkly at the same time, or anything brightly coloured. That's my opinion, but I would also say, if you like it, wear it and don't worry about what other people think!

hoxtonchick · 17/01/2007 10:09

yes, i wear mine with jeans. sometimes with a gap black cashmere tunic thing over the top. i like it so much (i have the charcol/silver one), i've ordered a brown one....

Erm, no, no I think not.

You will not see me in sparkly knitwear b/c it is probably synthetic fibre.

NotQuiteCockney · 17/01/2007 10:43

I thought I read somewhere that sparkly knitwear was code for a woman who does pegging ;-).

expatinscotland · 17/01/2007 10:46

How many have you got, NQC ?

snowleopard · 17/01/2007 10:49

Hi again all... Hoxtonchick, the exact same one? Well, I feel I'm in cool company! I also have the charcoal/silver - I wore it yesterday with jeans and got a compliment so my mumsy sparkly vibe is going well. I agree, definitely a casual thing, I wouldn't glam it up with fuchsia leggings and gold heels.

Pegging? Do you mean dogging?

OP posts:
hoxtonchick · 17/01/2007 10:53

the exact one! it's not synthetic expat, that would make me run a mile.... nqc, pegging? enlighten us!

harpsichordcarrier · 17/01/2007 10:54

I think NQC is teasing...
I think

snowleopard · 17/01/2007 10:55

But... we don't know what pegging is yet

OP posts:
NotQuiteCockney · 17/01/2007 10:58

Oh, goodness, do you mean you lot are wearing the code without knowing what it means? I'm for you! Here's a webpage (with nice diagram!) explaining what pegging is.

NotQuiteCockney · 17/01/2007 10:59

I'm not British, I don't do teasing! ;-)

wurlywurly · 17/01/2007 11:01

pegging . LMFAO

Think you maybe a little over dressed for pegging.

hoxtonchick · 17/01/2007 11:03

surely you don't need sparkly knitwear for that....

NotQuiteCockney · 17/01/2007 11:03

I'm not saying people peg while wearing sparkly jumpers! Now you're just being silly. It's just code, like the old handkerchief code. Only sparklier!

snowleopard · 17/01/2007 11:03

Who knew what new worlds of fun my new sparkly top would open up! (so to speak)

OP posts:
wurlywurly · 17/01/2007 11:04

obviously it the uniform

snowleopard · 17/01/2007 11:04

Maybe the person who complimented me was giving me a pegging come-on!
