I like the tan saddle bag best.

IWantToLiveInPawnee · 26/05/2016 11:21

Would the mini lily be better in black? For the evening?

OP posts:
GypsyFl0ss · 26/05/2016 12:10

I bought my lily for evenings; I don't think it transitions to daytime very well.
The whistles saddle bag is lovely but definitely a daytime bag.

GypsyFl0ss · 26/05/2016 12:11

The mini lily is lovely in black. Just very small.

AmberNectarine · 26/05/2016 12:11

I went to the Shepton mallet outlet recently and the mini Lilys were £195. They will post out.

GypsyFl0ss · 26/05/2016 12:15

That's good value.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 26/05/2016 12:24

There's just no comparison really is there? Ford Fiesta or a Range Rover?

polyhymnia · 26/05/2016 12:37

Fwiw, Pug has summed up perfectly the way I feel about Mulberry. Just can't get excited about them. Lucky really, as there are already too many things I want to spend money on!
Definitely think saddle bags are a classic style, not just a fashion craze.

squoosh · 26/05/2016 12:40

I think Mulberry is a snoozesome brand too. Plus the crazy hoiking of their prices put me right off them as a company.

squoosh · 26/05/2016 12:42

What makes Mulberry a Range Rover though, aside from the price? Nothing has changed in their brand's quality to justify their current prices.

soupmaker · 26/05/2016 12:47

Mulberry? Yawn. Why, oh, why do women of a certain age think having a Mulberry bag is some sort of life achievement. They are over priced and boring IMHO.

That tan saddle bag on the other hand is awesome. I'd go for it, but only when on sale.

IWILLgiveupsugar · 26/05/2016 12:55

Oi. Enough with the Mulberry bashing. I just got a mini kite in oxblood and it is lovely. I do agree that it is overpriced though.

WoodleyPixie · 26/05/2016 12:57

The mini lily is tiny. I have a normal lily and that's just the right size for phone keys and purse and lippy.

I'm not keen on the whistles one. When I lost my lily I did look at the Michael kors one but luckily my handbag and contents were covered on home insurance so got a new one.

It's 100% an evening bag though.

WoodleyPixie · 26/05/2016 13:01

God the s&b snobs are out in force today.

Mulberry bags are actually quite lovely still. Like most brands they have some boring designs and some naff designs. Id rather spend £700 on a bag that will say and not be seasonal than the same or more from a designer who is edgier but will look dated the next season.

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/05/2016 13:13

It's 'snobbish' to not be wowed by Mulberry?

Okaaaay then.

WoodleyPixie · 26/05/2016 13:32

its not snobbish to not like mulberry, its the comments, oh yawn, women of a certain age, all disparaging comments that there is no need for. If you don't like it, the op obviously does as she's linked to it, then feel free to move on or suggest a different bag without the snide comments.

MitzyLeFrouf · 26/05/2016 13:34

Er, I'm pretty sure the OP asked for people's opinions of the two bags.

Stop being so precious.

OP I'd go for the saddle bag too!

IWantToLiveInPawnee · 26/05/2016 13:36

Will the mini lily look dated? I want a classic, I may go for the standard lily, or I may not bother and get some cheaper bags, I've seen a nice one in all saints.

I have a Bayswater in black, aged beautifully and I have lots of compliments on it, I feel special with it, I know that sounds ridiculous and at the risk of sounding 'violin-inducing' I had very little growing up and this kind of luxury makes me feel good.

Saying all that, what I really want is a Bayswater mini, the crossbody Tessie, the lily in normal size and mini and a purse to go with it all. That ain't gonna happen in the lifetime, so maybe I will get the mini in black.

I want to use it as an evening bag and a passport/credit card bag when I fly, using the Bayswater as a travel bag.

I could kick myself as my husband bought me a black, smallish, simple crossbody from Mulberry a few years ago for 300 and I made him take it back Blush it felt far too indulgent to spend that amount of money on me and 1 bag!

HanYOLO · 26/05/2016 13:40

Hate the Mulberry
I just think its ugly

First whistles one is boring

Saddlebag is fab, I think quite classic really too, it's not "edgy" but definitely day bag rather than occasion bag

LOL at the poster who prefers to spend £700 on a classic bag calling other posters snobs

IWILLgiveupsugar · 26/05/2016 13:44

I fancy getting a mulberry clifton. Just need to locate a spare grand to pay for it Grin

Dancergirl · 26/05/2016 14:05

iwill I love the look of the mulberry kite. How big is the mini version?

IWILLgiveupsugar · 26/05/2016 15:08

The bag itself is about 30cm wide by 27 cm high. The strap is adjustable - on its smallest size it makes the bag about 50cm from top to bottom. There is a bigger kite as well but not sure if it comes in oxblood

honeylou42 · 26/05/2016 15:26

Love the mulberry and not keen on the others Smile

verite · 26/05/2016 15:34

i've got the normal lily which to me is the perfect size. i think the mini lily is too small personally and i don't like the whistles one i'm afraid. sign up for mulberry sample sales though if you want either a lily or a mini lily - they usually have loads.

AmberNectarine · 26/05/2016 15:52

A friend bought the mini recently and it fits a phone, lippy and credit cards perfectly. Obviously not an every day work horse bag, but great for evening etc.
