Is it OK to wear black trousers to a wedding?

I have ordered some lovely silky black trousers from Massimo Dutti. I had planned to wear them with a black silk top and an off white jacket with heels and a clutch. But now I'm not so sure! Is black an acceptable colour to wear to a wedding ? I definitely want to wear trousers as I don't want my legs on show! Have tried on a couple of jumpsuits but so far have not found anything very flattering!

Black trousers would be fine but not all black, unfortunately. If you took your jacket off and put your bag down it'd be an all black outfit bar the shoes, which is a shame as it sounds nice.

If you could wear a coloured top, or black to with coloured print ,or even keep the black top and add colour with shoes and jewlery then it'd be fine.

I think it sounds lovely...I'm quite fond of an all black outfit, even at a wedding.

I'm perhaps a little too fond of all black, if anything. It's rarely appreciated at weddings though. Especially summer weddings. Despite looking great 9 times out of 10. Not that it can't be done mind

What you're describing sounds lovely.

Sounds fine to me. As a PP said, as long as you look like you've made an effort and avoid anything that looks like a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress, I don't think anyone will care. Make sure something about you is colourful (bold lip, or bold colourful jewelery, or bright heels) and you'll be grand.

Personally I wouldn't do black top AND black trousers to a wedding.

Know about the white dress but why can't you wear red dress to a wedding. I have on several occasions as it's one of my colours. Have l missed something?

And all weddings l have been at recently have people in full black. I only noticed because of mumsnet. I doubt anyone else did.

They look like pyjama bottoms. Sorry. I do think all black is fine at a wedding but then again I really dislike threads when someone worries about what goes. I am firmly in the camp of wearing what you like and forget any raging bridezilla.

Black is absolutely fine.
I've only ever been to 2 weddings and worn black to both.
The sky didn't fall in.

I wouldn't wear all black personally although you could. Not keen on those whistles trousers.

Even if it was my wedding I don't think I would get worked up about someone who had made an effort and looked nice.

Only thing that would pee me off would be a white/cream bridal type outfit or jeans/trainers.

Those blue trousers look like pyjama bottoms to me as well. If you don't like your legs what about a maxi dress instead?
