Ed Hardy perfumes are known for not lasting and generally not being of good quality. I find that musky scents tend to create a cloud around me. I'm using Armani Si EDT (don't like EDP) and it lasts ages even though it is EDT. I also like Dior Addict EDP, LPRN Guerlain EDP, Estée Lauder Sensuous. Another one that is very potent is LVEB Lancôme -one spritz is enough. From all the perfumes I have gone through I think that most of Armani, Lancôme, Chanel, Guerlain and Estée Lauder create that swish of scent.
Regarding to using EDP or pure perfume - I don't think it works like it used to. Firstly pure perfume is extremely expensive and difficult to get - most high street available perfumes don't come in pure form. You can get pure perfume from Chanel and Dior -I think they are available from Boots even.
Secondly EDP and EDT versions of the same scent are quite often very different, and in some cases they have nothing in common whatsoever - example Dior Addict EDP and EDT. EDP is a sexy, woody, dark vanilla scent and EDT is a sparkly jasmine.
I think the best bid is to get samples and see how they work for you. Try what you like in Debenhams or wherever you are free to smell bottles and then order samples of the ones you liked you might try begging the SA but they seem to never have any samples
Beautyspin uk is a good place for samples apparently.
