I want a lovely, long lasting lipstick. I have a No 7 one in Brick Red which is brilliant, but want a more day to day one and don't like any of their other colours. Am after a sort of muted pinky, plum - does that even make sense?

another voice for MAC and rimmel here. i don't know of an exact colour for you as it sounds like we have different colouring but the MAC Amplified lipsticks are fab, they last ages before the need any retouching. the matte ones int he range are also great but a tad more drying on the lips than the amplified range

I'm not a lipstick wearer (I have a really small thin mouth so it doesn't suit me really) but I tried on DD Sleek "Matte Me" (hers is 'Birthday Suit'. It was nice to apply, matte but not drying , stayed on all day and no horrible peeling or cracking.

I bought the NYX Lipstick Lingerie but DD has taken that Hmm

I bought a Soap&Glory matte but it faded really quickly and unevenly, I had the ugly lipline look.

I am going to buy a Sleek lippie today, have to test the colours (and elbow everyone away from the testers Wink )

I really like rimmel's vintage rose for a muted/pinky/plum shade, it is very flattering on me. Bit of a crap lipstick though unfortunately, doesn't last and odd smell.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 15/05/2016 15:40

Thanks all. Got a voucher for No 7 today when buying hair dye, so bought another of their long lasting ones. Not tried it on yet though - will report back!

I think I've already got that Rimmel one, although can't remember the shade of mine offhand. It smells hideous and doesn't last, but I do like the colour.

Oh and it tastes like 1985.

Agree, I am on a quest to find a similar shade in a 'better' lipstick.

whitehandledkitchenknife · 15/05/2016 18:10

Mac 'Creme in your coffee' might be up your street. Nearest thing I could find after Chanel discontinued 'Sweet Nature'.

Another fan of Revlon lipsticks here. I really like their version of chubby sticks, really nice colours, very moisturising and very long lasting.

RoobyTuesday · 15/05/2016 18:40

And one to avoid: Chanel; love the colours but they last all of about 5 minutes!

BubsAndMoo · 15/05/2016 22:08

Really, I find Chanel pretty long wearing! I have the Coco Rouge ones. Comfy, great colours, long lasting and satisfying packaging too Smile

I think lipsticks can really vary on different people though.

DailyMailResearcher · 15/05/2016 23:11

Maybelline 24hour or even the 16hour ones are brilliant, don't budge at all, think about 9 pound echo but usually some sort of offer on at boots, good range of colours too. I love them!

puglife15 · 15/05/2016 23:28

I love NARS and Lancome, Clinique ok too, and they might just be in your budget.

I've never got on well with Mac really. Can't find a shade in a finish I like.

Might also be worth looking at No 7 for your budget. They do a long lasting one which is quite good.

puglife15 · 15/05/2016 23:29

Ignore my no 7 comment, just reread your op!

Wagglebees · 16/05/2016 01:28

Bubs Chanel do do good packaging don't they? A nice satisfying 'click'.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/05/2016 18:45

:)

The No 7 one I bought is nice but nowhere near as long lasting as the red one I've got from them, even though it's the same range (Stay Perfect).

I'm a lifelong lipstick wearer and Chanel's Coco Rouges are some of my favorites (and some of the few lipsticks I've ever finished). I also rate Kiko and Rouge d'Armani. And Max Factor has some great options.
