Like Converse but comfortable and for normal width feet?

I find Converse incredibly narrow but I like the look, plus anything of that sort (very very flat) is really uncomfortable to walk in pavements on.

Any ideas for an alternative? I had some Johnnie B floral lace ups last summer and while they were really lovely to look at and didn't rub/right width, the soles were paper thin (and they gave up after 1 summer).

I have really wide feet (I struggle with most high street non-wide fitting shoes) but don't find Converse at all narrow and find them really comfortable! I've been wearing them for years and have had loads of pairs, so it always puzzles me when I read on here that people find them narrow - maybe I'm buying mens' fit or my feet are less wide in the narrowest bits...

Embarrassingly I find I have a pair of Vans I have never worn and had forgotten about!
I will be trying them out over the weekend instead of going to Sports Direct.

I too find converse too narrow. I recently got some superga trainers, the ones with a less chunky sole. I really like them.

When I was in Bruges, I got shoeache [always happens to me on holidays] and I bought a pair of Crocs sneakers. Look exactly like Converse. But wider and so comfy. I really am gutted as they are starting to wear out and they are not sold in the UK.

Have Converse changed recently? I have wide feet (G or H as a child and usually have to buy Clark's wide fit now) and have worn Converse all my life - since I was 7! I am currently rotating a red fabric pair and a white fabric pair, and can wear them all day with no problem.

Yet a "Converse are too narrow" thread comes up all the time.

Maybe it's because I have big (8 or 9) feet too - perhaps the larger sizes come up wider?

I think it must be Bike because I am size 5.5 and immediately I put them on my feet feel like they are in a vice.

Anyway verdict is:
Vans - fit widthwise but rub my heels
Dunlop - lovely and comfy, I have a 1.5mile walk to the CM and back and think they will be fine later to do that but may live to regret it.

Will be ordering one or two more pairs of Dunlop I think. They come up a bit big, well maybe other brands come up small? I've always said I'm 5 1/2 but have to wear a 6 due to the width of most shoes, and I'm in a 5 1/2 in Dunlop.

I have incredible wide feet and can fit into Converse very easily, I usually get the men's sizes though rather than the women's so they are a better fit. For example, the converse I'm wearing now are a size 8 (men) but are the equivalent to a size 10 in women.

However I will say the leather styles do seem to be a looser fit than the canvas styles, also do avoid the new Chucks 2.0 as they are elasticated inside and have a very tight fit.

I bought a pair of floral Supaga's from TK Max online (£20) and they fit me brilliantly.

I wouldn't say my feet are super wide but at the wider end of normal..(though the last Clarks boots I had to have wide). There is still quite a bit of room in them and are certainly not tight. I have a high arch...which sometimes means you need wider, but they also have some support.

I knwo what you mean by totally flat shoes..one of the reasons I have nver bought Converse

You need Rocketdog! They are lovely and wide on the toes.

That'll explain it then notamummy10. Been an 8 or 9 and in men's Converse for 30 years, do my feet have never given me the chance to notice the narrowness.
