Do you think the backpack/handbag as rucksack trend will last?

I've got my eye on a backpack, I've seen some nice looking ones at Whistles and Radley, so I'll be potentially spending £150-300 (for me that's a good chunk and I'd want to get a few years wear out of it).

So... do you think this backpack trend will last? Or will I look a bit daft next season when the next bag thing comes around?

I use a backpack, it's so much easier than carrying around a handbag.

Mine is from New Look and it's like the TARDIS, it has so many zip compartments too

Backpacks are great - keys, money and phone go right at the bottom and takes me ages to find them so a pickpocket wouldn't stand a chance! I wouldn't use one as a handbag though, I only use mine when walking or on a boat.

What??!!! I'm fashionable for a bit??? I've used a rucksac for years. Much easier, imo, when you need to be keeping an eye on several small kids. Several people have commented that it looks convenient, but noone has bought one!!!
I too will duck out of S&B

Maybe I'm creating a trend out of nothing! Obviously I know backpacks have been around a while, but it's only in the past year or two that I've seen them in fashion magazines as 'stylish' handbags, rather than just practical, iyswim.
