It's going to be my birthday present in Feb - I've had my current one for a couple of years and it's knackered. I need one big enough to put keys, phone, brolly, crap etc., so not a tiny one, but nothing too huge either. Limited budget and I'd love a brown one. I like suede but fancy something quite formed - a proper shape IYKWIM.

Any suggestions/links? The only shop I've looked in is Accesorize (because there's one on the way to work!) but I can drag my lazy arse round town in a lunch hour if I knew where to look!

Not sure if this would work - I saw it in a cataloge the other day and loved it, but it's olive green, not brown. (also comes in a gorgeous blue ). Also maybe not enough structure for you. Will keep looking...

(catalogue, even). Or how about this one in the dark brown version? Not huge though. You might not fit a brolly in.

FrayedKnot · 13/01/2007 14:03

Love this one on the same site, JN..

lovely!

What's your budget DD?

£120 a lot for a bag but then again I saw one for £400 in a mag the otehr day.

sweetmonkey · 13/01/2007 14:07

how about this one from debenhams i have it in beige and its lovely

here

There are some gorgeous ones around, aren't there. But not very many 'proper' shapes in suede - they tend to be the slouchy ones. You'd definitely find more in leather.

But I did find this , though it isn't real suede.

Dottydot · 13/01/2007 14:26

Ah. My budget's more in the region of about £40..! (Dp's buying and she's just shrieked at the thought of £40 but she doesn't do handbags so has no idea!). Can't access the links at the moment but will have a look later - thanks!!

just trying I am not good at links

singsalot · 13/01/2007 15:12

sorry, it is in top shop handbag suede

Dottydot · 13/01/2007 15:14

I like the bags that a leather/pladtic but have material in the middle - I like different textures on a bag! Still haven't looked at the links yet - can do later and thanks again. I'm not very good at style stuff and/or shopping, so it's helpful to know where to aim for!!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 13/01/2007 15:35

If you like texture, how about any of these ? May not be structured enough for you, though.

Dottydot · 13/01/2007 16:47

ooh - I'm very tempted by the Debs handbag, but £65 is a lot.... Also like the M&S one which seems to be a bargain!!

Am going to head for Debs and M&S next week to try them out - I only have 1 handbag and it's got to last at least a year or two, so I have to like it!

i have the beige debenhams bag asi've said already but i actually went back into bromley today and bought the brown one after i'd posted on here. oops. i am so obsessed

i noticed they had their 20% off labels still on the racks and when i got to the till it came up as £65 still. i said about the labels and the woman deducted the 20% so it might be worth keeping a look out in your local store to see if they have made the same mistake.

got it for £52 in the end which isnt too bad as the bags are lovely. it is leather outer and material on the inside.

hope you find your perfect bag

singsalot · 13/01/2007 20:40

jones the bootmaker online has great stuff in the sale, in your budget

Dottydot · 14/01/2007 13:27

I think this might be the one!!!

What do you think?!

OP posts:
Dottydot · 14/01/2007 13:31

or this one??? Don't know now...

do you think this one looks too big to be an every day handbag??

OP posts:
Dottydot · 14/01/2007 13:33

I think I've got a handbag fetish...

OP posts:
JackieNo · 14/01/2007 17:16

I like both of those first two, Dottydot - not so keen on the third one, plus it won't go over your shoulder - essential when you've got kids, imo.

JackieNo · 14/01/2007 17:18

Are this and this the same ones you linked to?

Dottydot · 14/01/2007 17:29

ooh yes! Slightly cheaper but you get free postage on the other site.

What are they like then and which one would you recommend if you were only buying one?!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 14/01/2007 17:34

Not sure - looking at the dimensions, the bigger one is not much wider, but a lot taller and deeper than the other one. It would obviously hold more, but I know that if I was buying it, that would just mean that I'd try to shoehorn more in (my current one is ridiculously heavy and full of bits of paper and other rubbish). So from that point of view, I think I'd be inclined to go for the smaller one, as it's still a good size. Haven't seen them in rl, by the way.

Dottydot · 14/01/2007 17:35

doh!! When I read your post I read it as "I've got both of those first two" !!!! (I was VERY impressed!!!)

Just ignore me. I'm clearly going bonkers...

Might get the smaller one and can always return it and order the larger one?!

OP posts:
JackieNo · 14/01/2007 17:37

Or order both and return one, so you can see them side by side and compare? If it's free postage anyway.

JackieNo · 14/01/2007 17:39

Oh, and no - I just have one handbag at a time, really (current one £20-ish from M&S, about a year and a half ago, I think). I do have one smaller version, but I can't fit very much in it, so don't use it day-to-day. I do like to tote around loads of stuff. I guess if I had less stuff I could swap handbags more easily.

Dottydot · 14/01/2007 17:46

I thought because you're Mrs Style Guru you might have tons and tons of them! (I really would if I could afford it - but I know what you mean about swapping stuff over - what a palaver!). I got horribly excited at Christmas when I ended up getting 2 mascaras - which meant I could start up a make up bag just for my handbag!!!

Ahem. Will stop talking accessories now..!
