Is it just me - serums

Are they really a big con? They never really seem to make a difference to anything. I've tried loads - the Estée Lauder one - the new no7 one blah -loads of other sorts too kiehls and loreal and so on - and none of them seem to make a blind bit of difference. Moisturiser makes a huge difference. If I don't use moisturiser my face falls off. And the right moisturiser makes a huge difference to how makeup goes on. And need different ones in summer and winter. It's all good.

But what are the serums actually supposed to be doing for me? Are we being made fools of by the cosmetics industry?

Don't seem to add any extra hydration. Haven't noticed Face Looking Suddenly Wonderful. Still look tired with sun damage from the past, little red veins about the snout (which is shiny), increasing fine lines and monstrous eye bags. Makeup still slides off by lunch.

Shall I not bother any more and spend my money on something else like cake?

The superdrug one does have great ingredients for the price.

I've started using the superdrug 'clearly youthful' serums and moisturisers as I have the joyous combo of spots and wrinkles.

I'm impressed. I really am. The day serum has vit c & lactic acid in, and the day cream an SPF and leaves my skin ready for make up.

The night serum is a bit more gel like, and I'm using up another night cream but so far I've noticed my skin is smoother, lines seem less pronounced and better than that, the spots are gone and the old marks fading quickly.

I use a Vit C oil and a gel to double cleanse too

Has anyone ever tried putting serum on only one side of their face I wonder? It would be interesting to see if the results are as good as claimed by the manufacturers. One side of the face looking 10 years younger than the other would be funny no I'm not going to do it Grin

salmonmaki I use OST Vitamin C serum this one though I buy it from eBay for ~£10. Its a faff as it needs to be kept in the fridge but I usually use it twice a day (and also on my chest and knees and bum ) and it lasts me about 3 months. Its shipped from korea so can take 1-3 weeks to arrive but I always make sure I order my next bottle when there is a week to go of the old

bollocks I do spot treat dark spots with the vit C serum sometimes if Im having a lazy week and I def see the spots fading faster than others that are not being treated
