Ted & Muffy have gone into administration

It's such a shame. When they were DuoBoots I relied on them for over ten years for boots for my non-dainty legs. Their rebranding with the over-inflated prices and dropping of many of the old style was such mistake.

Too confusing or costly to change back? I have just received a pair of their heritage collection boots, and I'm really, really pleased with them - finally a pair of boots that fit my narrow calves! I've never bought from them before (and admit that the name is er - quirky) but I shall certainly consider more purchases...

I am on my sixth pair of Duo/Ted and Muffy boots and love them.My first pair of 'Truffle' coloured OTK boots are still going with regular reheeling .I know of no other manufacturer of the same quality and range ( it must be very expensive to offer and make such a wide variety).
I would assume there are legal and financial reasons for the rebranding.

Trinny featured a pair of T&M boots on her This Morning slot today. Good luck to them.

Would now be the time to mention that Jilsen a Dutch company are bloody brilliant and much much more sensibly priced than Ted and Muffy.

They only do wide calf though. I buy from T&M because most boots are too big.

Nice colours though!

Oh this is really good news. I lived in some black riding boots last year: perfect for the stout of leg!

P1nkP0ppy · 11/10/2016 20:11

I miss Duo, it was the only shop that I could buy boots that suited my ankles which are held together with pins, plates and glue I reckon! and screws.
They might say that it's the same as Duo but I disagree; T and M are out of my price range and nothing will beat the shoes, boots and personal service you would get in the Bath store.

domesticslattern · 12/10/2016 18:41

I loved my Duo boots and used to buy a pair every 2 years or so.
Not sure I would ever buy something with Muffy in the title to be honest. Would worry it was written on the zip or insides. Just a really silly and deeply annoying name, however they dress it up. It is up there for me with horrible words like moist, poorly etc.
Ted and Muffy indeed.

Ratonastick · 12/10/2016 18:49

I'm in 2 minds. I can just about live with the vaguely pubic name, but the customer service and quality? Nah! Like everyone else I bought every year or so but my last pair were massively overpriced (I was desperate!) and took 3 weeks to arrive. And then had to be returned for them to deliver the size I ordered.

The problem is us chunky calved types are over a barrel. I will definitely look at any alternative anyone suggests!
