I love Coco Chanel, Hermés Merveilles, Dipytique Eau Duelle Molecule 1 and for a light everyday Philosophy Amazing Grace.

I want a new scent, one for special occasions for evenings one that can become a signature scent for me. I really would love an exquisite fragrance that is not too well known, not regular high street or Jo Malone.

I prefer musky Woody scents, does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you

Those Armani Prive bottles are obscenely stylish!

Babymamamama · 03/05/2016 19:37

Miller Harris. So nice!

LazySusan11 · 03/05/2016 19:44

I love the sound of the Mugler and the Armarni, knew you would have some great suggestions!

Oo, the Armani prive... I've put them out of my mind but seeing the bottle of Eau de Jade just took me back a good 7-8 years or whenever I first smelled the scent. I don't think it's what you're after as it's rather light and airy but it smelled like ... Incredible... And I remember thinking it smells like a rich woman. To me, the kind of gorgeous, impeccably elegant woman who's casual in jeans (which you don't realise cost a grand) and a black jumper (which you suspect is cashmere but you've no idea this is wool off a rare breed of goats hand fed only finest organic produce by artisans who follow the goats across a steep mountain range as they frolic in crystal alpine streams and pure mountain air) ... And she wafts past you smelling so incredible you actually turn around.... Of course then I saw the £160 price tag and wafted myself away from the perfume counter.

After that description Upsi I really want to have a whiff!

Several of the Pefumistas are enjoying Mary Greenwell's Fire right now. Ticks the musky woods box - in the sale at The Fragrance Shop.

Agent Provocateur original. Can't describe it - it's just beautiful. People regularly comment on it when im wearing it xx

I like unusual, spicy, woody perfumes but don't want a high street one, and have noticed TKMaxx sell Miller Harris La Fumee Intense and La Fumee Arabie. Only reviews I can find online are from men. It says it's a unisex fragrance but is it overly-manly? It's a great price at TKMaxx so am tempted! Fellow 'odd perfumes that nobody else wears' likers, please advise! Thanks xx

Agent provocateur a dirty musky rose, great if it suits you. New favourite wood is Tom Ford Oud Mineral, wood, salt and pepper layered up in a concoction that can take severe heat. Check out some of the Map of the Heart scents, the bottles are unusual

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 15/07/2018 15:42

I second the Feminite du Bois suggestion.
it's a masterpiece.

Frederic Malle Portrait of a lady orCarnal Flower or Noir Epices are all quite heady.

Vilhelm Parfumerie Dear Polly is my current favourite. It's a smoky citrus tea and doesn't smell like anything else I've encountered. Morning Chess is also lovely, a leathery, citrussy, amber concoction.

Failing that if you like white flowers, the Original Marc Jacobs is lovely - Gardenias floating in water.

I'm your scent twin. I have just bought my second bottle of Miller Harris La Pluie. It's recently been brought back as a special edition and is on offer at £55.
I really love it, and although my first bottle isn't finished I wanted to make sure I had a bottle in reserve as it will stop being available soon.

Bottega veneta is gorgeous. Pepper and leather ... The flagship scent in a brown bottle.

CountFosco · 16/07/2018 12:51

Have you tried any Papillon perfumes. Absolutely gorgeous. My favourite is Dryad which is a green chypre, Salome gets loads of love among perfumistas and is musky and very animaliac. But all 5 are gorgeous quality scents.

Deathraystare · 18/07/2018 13:58

Oscar de la Renta.

Yes I like it too. A bit too clean for me but I somehow like it! Despite being my lil bruv's ex first wife's perfume!

Bugjune · 18/07/2018 16:04

Cierge de Lune by Aedes de Venustas.

This stuff is incredible, even my fragrance hating family approve.

TheClitterati · 18/07/2018 22:17

I love Serge Lutens scents, and 4160 Tuesdays.

Pure distance White and Olivia are very beautiful and smell very expensive in Winter/Spring.
For summer Van Cleef and Arpels California Reverie is a stunning mix of Jasmine and Orange Blossom.
Frederick Malle Une Rose is the most ethereally lovely Rose perfume.

ChesterBelloc · 21/07/2018 13:36

Mitsouko by Guerlain - I've worn it since I was 18, and will never wear another. It's perfect. Very multi-layered, difficult to describe: musky, adult, like a woman's warm, worn leather glove. Not very sweet, very adult. If it's ever discontinued I will be devastated!

HildaZelda · 21/07/2018 21:11

Might be a bit too common/well known, but Tom Ford 'Black Orchid' is beautiful.
