Please dress me for a summer of breastfeeding

Dc2 is six weeks old and breastfed, I'm about a stone and a half above my comfortable weight, and I have absolutely nothing to wear. I'm currently living in jeggings, boots, and looser tops, but will need something to wear when the weather gets warmer.

Please hit me with ideas!

  • I'm 5'2" and size 12, usually a 10 and hoping the feeding works its magic again. Carrying extra weight on my stomach and arms.
  • I'm 31 and usually like oasis and warehouse type stuff
  • I have a three year old so needs to be practical
  • I normally do one up one down and already own a billion cheap h+m vests.

So, what the hell do I wear???

Watching with interest!

I too would like some advice on this- DC3 is also 6 weeks old and I need to buy a few bits as everything I own either doesn't fit or doesn't allow for boob access! Season-related advice doesn't really apply as I'm in Scotland so unlikely to experience 'summer'.anyway.
Quite fancy a pair of dungarees.

Congrats Suz!

DS2 is 8 weeks now and I gave managed to squeeze myself into a new pair of Topshop Jamie jeans - high waisted with a bit of stretch.

My BFing boobs are enormous so I'm sticking to loose fitting tops of various styles. I find tight tops a bit restrictive for BFing. Basically I'm still wearing my DMs now now but wear sneakers or sandals as the weather warms up.

I like shorts fir going out and about with me toddler too. Less flashing!

Mostly I'm sad that pinafore dresses and body's are back in all the shops - I'm such a 90s throwback I'd love to dress like the cool kid I never was but alas, they are not BF friendly!

Jamie Jeans are great for the mum tum aren't they? They make me look 2 sizes smaller than I actually am :)

I've bought shirts (lightweight chambray) and crop tees (worn with high waisted jeans) and loose tops which are easy to pull up. I've also bought a pair of chino shorts and denim shorts. I'm constantly on the look out for shirt dresses (denim and one other) but haven't found anything quite right yet.

If you want more coverage whilst feeding, last time I cut a cheap primark best to just below my bra and wore it under things like the denim dress above. Then when feeding undid a few buttons of the dress and pulled the top up.

Watching for more ideas, I'm a lot bigger than last time so need to buy loads of bf friendly clothes to wear until I lose weight!

*vest, not best!

I lived in jeans/cropped trousers with vest tops and then floaty summer tops on to so could do one up, one down. Wore denim skirts and tops too but found that was a pain when sitting cross-legged to feet, which I spent hours doing in various parks! Have a wonderful summer with your little one.

ThursdayLasrWeek - you need to join tecFacebook group "Can I Breastfeed In It?"

There are seemingly hundreds of women in there breastfeeding in pinafore dresses, dungarees and wrap bodies! In fact anyone breastfeeding should join it.- it's the most useful thing about Facebook :)

I'll look it up laquila, sounds quite inspiring!
Maybe I'll go try a pinafore dress on and see how I feel.

Congratulations to all the new mum's!
I was going to suggest that FB page too, it's so good!

My DD2 is two weeks old and I really need some new tops, I'm going to go for loose shirts with cropped vests and ankle length jeans and was thinking of wrap dresses/maxi dresses for when it get a bit warmer.

Hoping to make it into town today so will share anything suitable I might find.

motmot · 04/05/2016 07:30

I'll check out the fb group and Jamie jeans! Those of you who have bought denim shorts, where from? I don't want tiny short shorts but I'm not keen on Bermuda length either.

Mind you it's blowing a gale here today so possibly a moot point...
