What sort of thing? Is there such a thing as a 'nice' pacamac? Or should I be wearing something else? It's just for out and about with the children, two ds who are 4 and 1, so fairly robust. I am fairly stylish, I like to think!! But need something practical, I have a few gillets, but it needs to be waterproof! I am 38, hourglass, size twelve if that helps. I don't particularly want to spend any more than £30 as it's not going to get a great deal of wear. And ideas? Or should o be spending more on a trench coat?

I'm looking for the same thing! Needs to have a decent hood and cover my bum! I've been looking for ages!!!!

grannycake · 24/04/2016 08:11

I got a good one in Sainsburys recently - nice hood with a cotton lining It was about £30.00 but there was 25% off at the time

It sounds terrible but was under £30. A festival type waterproof poncho. Got it from Blacks Outdoor store. Navy with a small pattern on it. Covers my bum, my arms are free, packs into a pouch. The water slides off and it looks good with jeans in wellies.

Swifey · 24/04/2016 08:53

That sounds perfect Grannycakes. Was it fitted or just straight?
And Diana does the flapping around poncho style not get in the way??

I have a Berghaus pac a mac. It looks like a normal coat when on you would never know it was a raincoat. Cost about £60 from Millets last summer.

carrielou2007 · 24/04/2016 08:59

Joules do one called 'golightly' which is a pacamac but is totally waterproof/sealed seams whatever it's called. I have two Blush a bright pink one I got half price in the sale to leave in the car and I bought a lime green one last week as they had 25% off. I looked at a really nice navy one in Sainsburys but it was showerproof.

DianaT1969 · 24/04/2016 09:17

I've worn my ponho twice so far and it was a bit windy, but it didn't noticeably flap around. I think it's suitable for sudden downpours but perhaps not an activity holiday.

Ancienchateau · 24/04/2016 09:20

I have a Seasalt one. It's perfect, and I live in France.

Saw a few waterproof jackets in Tesco at the moment, they are around £30 if I remember correctly. Nice colours!

ThomasHardyPerennial · 24/04/2016 11:53

If you want something lasting, Seasalt, Cornwall have an excellent range. Waterproof and breathable. Not cheap though! Regatta are also quite a good make.
