Had my feet measured today, I'm less than a C width! Where do I find shoes?

I've always struggled to find shoes that fit. Took DS to Clarks today and thought I'd get my feet measured while I was there to find out if they are an unusal size.

They are 5.5-6 and they don't measure smaller than a C width and she said mine were smaller than that! She said she could see they were narrow as soon as I took my shoes off. Definitely explained why I struggle so much when shoe shopping.

She said they only do one type of shoe in that width, and it's nothing like I would wear. She said I could probably wear children's shoes as they tend to come in narrower widths, at which point my 8 year old started laughing at me, thanks DS!

I've Googled a bit and the only narrow ones I can find are overpriced and old ladyish. Nothing nice. Any nice ones I've found don't go narrow enough. I did look on the Clarks website (kids) and I actually couldn't find anything narrow enough.

Unfortunately seems like DD has my feet too and we struggle with hers.

My feet are narrow (I used to put my foot on the measure and it sailed past AAA ) . Every time I went to get shoes fitted , I was told "Oh, you'll find it difficult to buy shoes" . Don't I know it.

Now nearly 50, still got my narrow feet (size 5.5/6) but no idea what width.

Are your feet pronated (ie roll inwards when you walk, sometimes feel strain under the arch , 'flat feet' )

I look for fastening shoes (yes your Old Ladyish Ones) . Some shoes I look at and my feet cry at thought of wearing them.
I wear Converse , they come up narrow, I wear the Hi Tops for ankle siupport, but after a full day, my feet are tired.
Otherwise, straps or laces.
A raised area under the arch (my sandles have a toepost with an adjustable strap, a slight wedge and medial arch support.

Things like Birkenstocks just don't work for my feet, I don't even look. (I have a pair of their rubbery flip flops for round the pool on holiday but not proper walking)

I need new walking shoes/training shoe type. Oh joy. Bloody hate shoe shopping.

Hotter are quite narrow in some styles.
I love M&S for shoes.
Half sizes in many shoes and I can try them on without having to ask for the other shoe and wait for someone to help me.

Yes my feet do turn in, my GP said fallen arches I think, I have a support thing in my main boots. I also hate shoe shopping. It's such a chore. I find sketchers quite good. I have a very comfy pair. At the moment I do always look for something with a strap, I have to, slops all over the place else .

Another narrow footed one here. For years, I didn't wear shoes at all. I wore boots in the winter (so literally zipped on and not able to fall off) and sandals in the summer (strapped on). I've had more luck in recent years with mary jane type shoes and with the trend for brogues, and also with elasticated ballet pumps. I also find insoles help enormously, foam or terry towelling (so nice and thick). Always irritating when you get a shop advertising wide fit but no equivalent for narrow fit, M&S are especially bad for this.

I read the M&S reviews for shoes and the bad reviews are invariably "too narrow, couldn't get my foot in"

Footglove "Wide Fit" aren't.
I like M&S in particular because they sell non leather/pleather without me having to search too much (Converse are good in dry weather but not good in rain/snow)

I have narrow feet and people do not believe how hard it is your get shoes to fit so glad you hear I'm not alone!
I like Converse as they're narrow and obviously laces pull them in. Am fine with boots too. Sandals for some reason are less of an issue too.
Shoes whether they're flats, heels are just too wide. Shops make wide fit but not narrow. Grrrr.

I've got size 4 narrow feet and it is a nightmare finding comfortable shoes that don't slip off. Currently looking for a comfortable pair of sandals I can walk in the summer- Birkenstocks etc don't work for me at all. DD seems to be taking after me- she's 2 and wearing baby size 4, narrow fit-which means ordering online or having a choice of 2 pairs of shoes in our local shops.

Dd has very narrow feet, she wears Converse too and Dr Martin boots but we struggle with anything pretty. Sandals are very tricky as she has very slim ankles too. She is flat footed and wears her orthotics all the time....moving into adult sizes has not helped.

Funny, I don't struggle with sandals either, I have loads. But I think it's because of the straps, I notice that if I wave my foot around it does slop about inside quite a bit. I found a pair of lovely Jasper Conran brown leather boots in the sale that fit perfectly and around my calves which is another issue I have. When my crappy feet inevitably wear the heel down on one side, like they do with everything I wear, I'll pay loads to get them re-heeled.

It's the ballet flats I struggle with. I've seen some lovely colours and patterned ones, I'd have a huge collection but I've given up. I've got a black pair with a strap but finding ones with a strap are just so few and far between. I noticed that Next had elasticated ones in their children's section, maybe I'll have a look at them although they don't have the colours I wanted!

Size 4.5/5 incredibly narrow feet here (and I'm 5"7!) and I second the children's section. They're often cheaper too I normally go with M and S for ballet flat type things and often make my own holes in sandal straps. And lots of insoles.

I will never understand why everywhere that sells shoes on the planet seems to do a wide fit, but no one does a narrow fit

I have narrow heels and a high instep - nothing stays on... At school I had the same pair of Clarks shoes 4 times in a row because they were the only pair that fit. Did anyone else have the triple buckle ones.

Clark's hamble oaks come in a narrow and half sizes.
Again I wear converse, new balance and boots. But even boots slop around on my feet sometimes.
Court shoes I have no chance - my heels are so narrow it's just daft.

Try Russell and Bromley. They tend to be on the narrow side, expensive, but worth it.

I asked in Clarks to measure me and they refused

Really oldraver? Why? How daft! I had never actually been measured as an adult. I didn't even know they measured the width.

Slippers are a ballache as well and I live in the bloody things.

dona I've thought the same thing many times. You can get petit, normal and tall clothes, many different sizes from very slim to very large, wide and extra wide shoes but not bloody narrow! It's ridiculous.
