Help I need a smart dress for post-baby 40 sthg size 16, short, just want to feel nice

Any ideas? I'm trying to find something flattering with sleeves, no shorter than kneelength, maybe crossover top and pencil skirt as that seems to suit me. It is for a formal occasion, but no black or anything too pale. I've spend hours looking but I am really stuck, it feels like ages since I've looked nice in anything :-(
