Shorts with tights?

Following on from somebody's thread regarding age, do you wear shorts with tights and if you do what age are you?
Is there an age where you just shouldn't?

I loved it the first time round - in about 1987 - I used to wear some lovely tartan shorts, thick black tights and DMs

The 1980s called - they want their fashion back....

I rocked this look at university, but I'm now pushing 50. No, no no.

My daughter goes for denim shorts with pink leopard print tights. She's 4.

I think it's fine at any age (just not the pink leopard print).

I'm 47 and overweight and I wear shorts with tights. When I said this on MN I got a lot of shock-horror comments. I find it a comfy combination. I wear biker boots and thick socks.

I don't give a fuck and I'll wear what I like.

It's a cute look for kids.

Surely it doesn't look that bad or childlike?
TBF I like it anyway but the responses have suprised me.

I am 50 and wore shorts with tights yesterday. It's one of my favourite looks. I even wear them to work - shock horror!

I am 5'10" and size 8/10 - maybe that helps.

I intend to carry on wearing them for as long as I feel good in them :-)

I'm 46. 5ft tall and size 14/16. I wear that combo quite happily

I did in my yoof. Black velvet ones with garish patterned tights and DMs abd a leather bomber jacket. T'was the fashion back in the day.

I did see a 40-something woman wearing a pair of baggy shorts over a pair of chino type trousers the other day. It looked weird.

I'm 5ft 11 and 16/18! I only wear shorts and tights if I'm wearing a skirt or dress; although I've heard knickers are a great substitute. Shorts tend to get eaten by my bum... Sorry for the imagery there!

The only way I'd do it would be 'city shorts' with sheer tights to wear in a work situation, I've only just lost enough weight to be able to wear shorts again so don't know if I'd be brave enough to do this IRL.
