I've looked at fit flops, but I can't get past the sportswear thing. Not for evenings. Silly, I know.

They do, don't they, Laurie?

If you like clarks fit but don't want the granny sole, these are nice (well, I think they are!)

I like the gladiator ones and Nonny's green beauties, but the first pair you posted and Nonny's Birky multicoloured efforts both look truly awful and grannyish to me. One woman's granny is another's hipster, and 'twill ever be thus ....

polyhymnia · 08/04/2016 11:31

Don't like the Clarks - the heel isn't right and they're way too fussy.

YvaineStormhold · 08/04/2016 11:34

eternalopt I'd look like a granny in them.

Problem is, there's a fine line between hipster and granny, and at 42 and a size 14, I'm way over it.

I'm going to stick up for eternalopt's suggestion. Have seen them called granny like on here before but teen Dd has an almost identical patent nude pair from new look she bought for a party.
I've come to the conclusion that granny chic is in Grin

LaurieFairyCake · 08/04/2016 11:55

I like eternalopts shoes.

But I suspect they look retro and cool on a leggy 20 year old and fiendishly bad on an oldy/chubster like me.

banivani · 08/04/2016 12:18

My 20-year-old could carry off Eternalopt's suggestion, but I couldn't. It's either age or inherent coolness that makes or breaks it isn't it. ;)

I quite like your first suggestion, OP! I'd happily traipse around in them but I realise (the sole!) that they'd not be considered the most stylish option. I'd rather wear those though and walk comfortably than something too flat that causes me pain if I have to walk a bit. I am of the opinion that inappropriate footwear is always unstylish and uncool though. You just look a right eejit. However the gladiator ones are horrible, but I hate gladiator shoes. It's 2016 AD, not BC (badaboomtish).

The Yokono sandals all looked nice! Something from Kickers maybe? www.spartoo.com/Sandale-Kickers-femme-st10148-o65-0.php#rst

jobrum · 08/04/2016 12:20

The second ones, no! No! The first might actually look ok on.

banivani · 08/04/2016 12:33

Oh, my idea is - when in doubt, avoid velcro straps. That usually gets you part of the way towards style. Grin

YvaineStormhold · 08/04/2016 12:49

these are nice

EekAWoodlouse · 08/04/2016 12:54

Ooh yes like those - actually a lot of the Kickers ones look promising

HeyNonnyMaybe · 08/04/2016 12:57

Easy there, Maximus Decimus Meridius. Grin You do like the ancient Rome look, don't you?

YvaineStormhold · 08/04/2016 13:01

Hehehe, we're off to Pompeii, I want to fit in Grin

Maybe not then...

These are supremely comfy and squidgy

donajimena · 08/04/2016 13:52

I bought these from Marks.
Please note bought . I have them awaiting warm weather. Please don't say they ming. If you must can you whisper it. Wink

Do these sandals ming?

I like those Marks ones!

I like quite a lot on the Timberland site but I,m tight and find it hard to justify paying over £40 for a sole and a load of fresh air!

slug · 08/04/2016 15:32

For comfort, though not always for style, Josef Siebel are good.

Red? Though with a comfy sole
