OK fashion experts. What to wear to the ballet?

I am off to afternoon performance of ballet this afternoon.

DD (5) is wearing swirly layered skirt, tights, boots and matching long sleeve top.

I am not sure what to wear.... Are black trousers and top OK or should I wear a dress?

whoops, am too late, but unless you're in £100 seats for a first night at Covent Gdn, trousers and a top sould be fine - we usually wear jeans...

Thanks have jsut got back and yes lots of people in jeans. Lots of girls in party frocks though!
