Kind of a TAAT, so forgive me.

I've just read a thread on which Clark's Hamble Oaks were roundly recommended. I had a look at the website and really like them.

However, I have tried wearing brogues before and I just can't seem to get it right.

To my mind, they only look any good without socks, but surely this would cause smelly feet and blisters?

Do people usually wear socks with them, or pop socks?

I can imagine socks looking ok if you have lovely slim brown legs that aren't pasty and covered in age spots, but that ain't me, babe.

What do people do?

TIA

those with the white sole shoes, how to keep the sides from looking dirty?

Cif. Works for converse, anyway.

I prefer brogue-ish loafers with no socks and wear with everything. I have s tan pair, blue suede pair and black pair.

I bought the pewter and they're beautiful but bloody shiny. I feel I have to grubby them up somehow to feel confident wearing them. Shame, cos they're comfy. Just kinda wish I'd broken my brogue virginity with more subtle ones!
