Where to get formal evening wear in Croydon/Bromley area

I have been invited to my cousin's 18th birthday party at the end of the month and the dress code is formal. I'm not likely to wear a formal outfit much this year so I don't really want to spend a fortune. I would ideally like to hire something so that I can at least give it back and not have it knocking around the house and I would ideally like a dress because its a special occasion and I never wear a dress!

I am between an 18/20 so would be looking for something quite flattering! Preferably something that covers up the bingo wings .

Does anybody know of anywhere I could get a dress from or where I could hire one? I'm between Croydon and Bromley.

Please help, style gurus! Many thanks!

I tried to think of a hire place and failed!

Monsoon and Debenhams may well have something appropriate though.

Thanks Soupy. I had a look in places like Dorothy Perkins and Next but didn't find anything for the arms . Will definately have a look there though. Thanks!

She would like a large box of posh chocolates for her long suffering friend, SoupDragon.

The only hire place I can think of is a place called, I think, Fusspots in Sanderstead. God knows if it's any good but it's been there years so it's probably doing something right...

I do have a vague recollection of my mum hiring posh frocks from there for parties years ago - that may or may not be a recommendation for you

Alternatively, House of Fraser/Allders/Debenhams for a good selection of stuff to buy.

Yup, oldlady-ish is what I suspected too, essbee. The name certainly is! Still you never know...

Haven't seen you on here for ages! Don't know about 20th - will depend on my shifts - but I'll pencil it in
