I really like the look of brogues worn with jeans or skirt and tights. I am usually about 5 years behind with fashion! Are they a massive no no? I like the look of the clarks ones but also love the look of a well worn pair! Any ideas of if I should get some snd wear to get them. X

I have some Red or Dead ones which are lovely and not a blister in sight

bigbutsrus1 · 24/03/2016 20:27

Off to research brogues now! Just out of interest, do people wear bare feet in them? Don't they get sweaty? Or do you wear those trainer style pop socks?!

No bare legs! Tights and skirt/dress or socks and trousers for me.

TooAswellAlso · 24/03/2016 20:42

I always wear mine with tights and skirts

BikeRunSki · 24/03/2016 20:45

I have 2 pairs of Hamble Oaks which were perfectly comfy from the first wear. I have some M&S hamble-oak-alike which are not very good quality.

I love brogues me.

Orangeanddemons · 24/03/2016 21:19

I wear bare feet/legs with mine. No problems at all. Mine are from, Dune, Boden and Marco Tozzi. None have ever rubbed.

LadyPriggsbottom · 24/03/2016 21:33

I wear tights and skirts or bare feet / pop sock thingies and jeans. Mine have little air holes all over them (nicer than they sound honest)! So not too sweaty no.

dudsville · 24/03/2016 22:06

It's a classic shoe so you'll always be able to wear it, but how it's worn changes with fashion. Mine are all clarks because they are so, so damn comfortabLe. I don't wear them in the heart of summer so it's socks, tights or bare feet. I think they're too hot for real summer weather.

Mytholmroyd · 24/03/2016 22:29

these come in pewter and are in the sale:

Judydreamsofhorses · 24/03/2016 22:39

Yes. I like them with ankle length skinny jeans and bare ankles as well as skirts/dresses. (I wear those shoe-liner things with mine, black from M&S, with silicon bits to stop them slipping.)

ProjectGainsborough · 24/03/2016 23:32

Yes, they're still going. I don't think they'll die, they're an anti-trend, really.

I tend to wear mine with bare feet, because I like to pretend that I'm an Italian aristocrat.

dudsville · 25/03/2016 11:30

Judydreamsofhorses - I have the little sock things but they slip off so I stopped trying - do the M&S ones come with silicone bits??????

Hello Gainsborough! I love your Italian aristocrat notion!

cardoon · 25/03/2016 14:48

Haha, I always imagine "The Sartorialist" will be along in a minute when I do a barefoot brogue Grin

TooAswellAlso · 25/03/2016 18:32

Thanks to this thread I wore mine sockless with jeans today when I got too hot in boots (sob)

My leather hamble oaks from clarks are mega comfy now

ProjectGainsborough · 25/03/2016 22:02

Waves regally to duds

Judydreamsofhorses · 28/03/2016 15:40

dudsville sorry for such a slow response, yes, the M&S ones have wee silicon bits - I have some black ones and some bright pink ones. Looking online I can't see them now, mine are from last year, but these are the ones I have, on eBay:

Judydreamsofhorses · 28/03/2016 15:44

Actually, these are they - I just ordered some of the navy ones, reduced to £1.49.

polyhymnia · 28/03/2016 15:51

Yes, I recommend those too.

PollyPerky · 28/03/2016 19:40
