I've got a black cord jacket, a jeans-style jacket, little and boxy

I saw Nigella in hers the other day but it may have been a repeat

can I still wear it or will people snort with laughter at me in the street?

Wear. Layer maybe too so there is something breaking up the box.

only if your bum is pert, or at least looks it - short jackets can be a minefield, esp if pear-shaped. Wide belt at hip level may help.

Agree layering (eg soft scarf, cowl-neck jumper etc) makes a difference too.
