I can't get my hair done OR go shopping but I need to look rather lovely and groomed at the weekend...

advice? I currently look about 150 and very ungroomed and knackered.

Have you got any deep conditioner? Use some of that the next couple of times you wash your hair (or just on the day, if that's all you've got time for). Do your nails. Plan your outfit now, and make sure it's all ironed. Shoes polished, if necessary.

Can you get to a chemist and get a semi perm dye, give your hair colour a lift?

Spend ages blow drying

Slap on the freeze 24/7

Get the GHDs out

etc

  • nails and lots of nice exfoliating and moisturinsing
meowmix · 04/01/2007 10:33

is your hair long enough to go up in a stylish french pleaty thing or similar? if short could you get some styling wax and flick out the ends in a stylish manner (DO NOT THINK HOOLIE HERE)?

Also a shawl or wrap always looks a bit more dressy ..?

KTeePee · 04/01/2007 10:35

Tidy up your eyebrows if they need doing. Ask a friend to come around to blow-dry your hair?

Enid · 04/01/2007 10:37

am too chicken to do them myself

cannot dye hair as having it done next saturday (thank the lord)

Deffo nails, nails, nails!

I'm in Rouge Noir now. Not muttony at all.

Wear hair up if it's long enough.

Take inventory of your jewellry, just the right piece can make an outfit.

Perfume?

Always a mood lifter.

Bugsy2 · 04/01/2007 10:43

Is your hair long enough for rollers? If it is & you have any, they work miracles on even the messiest, uncut hair.
Do nails & toenails.
Make sure you set aside time to do your makeup really well.
Be brave & at least pluck your eyebrows a little bit!
Make sure the jewellry you are planning to wear is clean & sparkley.
Try & squeeze in a lie down for an hour on the afternoon before you go out. It is worth, paying, bribing, even giving random BJ to your husband for this!!!!!!

Buy some blue Eye Dew eyedrops and your eyes will sparkle more

expatinscotland · 04/01/2007 10:47

Optitrex Eye Brightening drops work wonders!

Curl your eyelashes, too.

Curl, then coat of mascara, then curl, then second coat.

Eyes go 'POP!'

Enid · 04/01/2007 11:05

I wear lenses so I dont think I can do eyedrops?

have lost my eyelash curlers

thats how slatternly I have become

eyebrows are a MUST young lady

agree with others on nails - be warned on doing dark polish yourself, mine looked a right mess and I had to take it all off . Toes ok, fingers only if you have a steady hand.

deep conditioner on hair, spend time drying it

expatinscotland · 04/01/2007 11:17

I have dark polish, BUT I'm a grooming snob and am quite a practised hand at applying nail varnish.

Lost eyelash curlers? NO WAY. They're always right next to my Tweezermans.
