Bollocks!

New hairdresser, explained what I wanted, was fairly obvious from current pixie haircut (I thought). Watch what she's doing, not convinced. She dries it ready to take out some of weight, aaaargh!
Big poofy 'granny' hair. :(

I explained I wasn't happy, and she's made it a bit better, less poofy more choppy. But waaaaaa!

I'm still not happy with it but going to try washing and restyling tomorrow. :(

At the minute I'm really tempted to go back to the really short pixie I had years ago!

So... What's the etiquette for going back to the hairdressers and asking someone to sort my hair out?

The more I look at it the less happy I am.
She's given me a weird short tufty bit at the side and it feels like where she's taken the weight out I have patches of thicker/ thinner hair- like it's not been done very evenly iyswim.
Sigh, months of growing out and all I want now is to chop this all off and go back to a super short pixie cut again. :(

Stuff the etiquette get yourself back and explain that your not happy.
She should fix it for free or refund you

I've gone back before. I called ahead and spoke to the manager and asked for it to be rectified (I'd been given striped highlights, like the 90s). I said I'd prefer a different stylist and the manager booked me another appointment free of charge for the next day. The manager did come over and discreetly look at what was being rectified at the start of my appointment and agreed with me so no issues

So... I spoke to the salon manager - who happened to be the girl who cut my hair! I've got another appointment booked with someone else there to sort it on Friday.

But I've totally lost confidence in that salon.

Should I give the different hairdresser at that salon the benefit of the doubt?
Or go elsewhere?
(I'm really tempted to go elsewhere!)

If it were me I'd go elsewhere. I'd get recommendations if possible and book a consultation with the hairdresser I was thinking of going to (one at the most senior level Icould afford), to see if they understood my concerns and had solutions to suggest - and also just that the 'chemistry' between us worked.

Aaaargh! I'm torn

I should give the original salon a chance to fix it and that won't cost me anything extra...
BUT
I don't have any confidence and I will run out of hair if the second attempt doesn't work. Then I'll be stuck with it.

I would go back to original salon with the new girl/guy and speak to them a bit before they even let the scissors near your hair to make sure it sounds like they understand your concerns! If they sound like they know what they are talking about and seem confident they can fix it then go ahead but if you feel they are waffling and not act making sense then I would say I've changed my mind I'm going elsewhere!
At least you're giving yourself the chance to save money if you can

I found my best hairdresser ever when I went back for a previously bad cut to be rectified.

Go along. See what rectifying-stylist says needs to be done and what he/she will be doing. If you get the impression they know what they are talking about then go with it.

What are your other options btw - if it is just taking a punt on another salon somewhere with not prior experience I'd be tempted to give rectifying-stylist a go. As much as a gamble with them as with somewhere else.

And . It is shit when this happens.

I've gone back to complain in the past. I got it fixed tolerably by another stylist and never used the original one again.

I can't decide what to do. I have 2 options...

1. I can go back to original salon and talk to new hairdresser about how she's going to fix it. She's going to have to impress me though before I let the scissors near me as I have zero confidence. If the salon manager can cock up my hair then I'm not convinced someone with less experience/ skills will be able to sort it out.

1. I can cut my losses and go somewhere new. I have also booked an appointment at a fancy salon in town that has really good reviews (including positive mentions on mumsnet!). I'll be out of pocket as this place is more ££ than the old one.

Could I ask for a refund though if I don't want the original salon to cut it again?

Aaaargh! I can't decide!

I've always had the same woman who comes to my house, usually she's brilliant but this time she's scalped me. It's awful I could cry she booked herself to come back to trim it in a couple of months time, this monstrosity will take years to grow out

Definitely go for 2 IMO. Once a hairdressing salon loses my trust, that's it. Hair is worth spending as much as you can afford on in my view because it's with you all the time, whatever you wear. Like glasses and bras.

Wherever you end up going - take a picture in of what you want.

I went back to the original salon today and had my hair fixed!
It was a different girl cutting it and she talked through what she could do, where it wasn't right and we looked through lots of pictures etc.

It was great! My hair looks good again and I'm happy!

Was interesting to hear her criticising the original cut quite a lot considering the salon manager who messed it up was just 2 chairs away! - glad it wasn't just me being a pissy mare!
