I went out this morning to take my mind off DD3's first day at school and tried to find an outfit for the big job interview in two weeks. Found a lovely swingy knee-length black skirt in M&S for £5!!! in the sale
and splashed out £59 on
thisjacket
It is actually a much brighter green than shows in the link. What does anyone think? Is it too much? Should I take it back and swap for something black? I want to stand out but not in a bad way IYKWIM - apparently they are interviewing six people and I want this job SO much.

What is the job? Think it very much depends on that really.

It is PR/marketing officer with a charity.

I like it. And it'll be toned down by the black. I like the fitted shape of the jacket.

it's fine. as long as you don;t turn up in jeans or a ball gown charities aren't going to take that much notice of what you wear.

Tortington · 03/01/2007 14:08

i would go for something nay or blue.

i read that there was research that said somethng majorly positive about crsip shining white shirts underneath a jacket.

i lie the jacket. and it much depends on your skills too, but as a first impression this does state 2look at me i am an individual"

companies dont individuals. they want aptitude.

if you want to stand out wear a jazzly neklace
sparkly hair pin.

IMO

The general rule is - dress for the interview as you would dress for the most dressed up day at work (if I am phrasing this correctly).

I quite like that jacket...

That jacket is perfect for a marketing / PR role, though if it's a very bright green I might think twice. It says confident, indvidual and creative, and the black skirt sounds like it gives the outfit a business-like edge.

The more I think about it, the more I really love that jacket!

Well I didn't get the bloody job. Am calling on Monday to get some feedback from the interviewer. Shall I ask her straight - was it the jacket? Mind you - she was wearing a bright red suit.
