Breast enlargement - any advice particularly on timings

I've decided this is finally the year to take the plunge and get my boobs done. I've finished having kids. I'm just trying to work out when would be the best time to have the surgery in terms of working round my family.

I have four kids, 8,5,3&3. I'm currently unable to drive as I had brain surgery in August. So we don't go far at the moment. Ideally I'd like to have the surgery done before my big birthday in September 😱.

In an ideal world, I'd get the go ahead from my oncologist and have the op at the beginning of the summer hols as my mum who's a teacher would be around and spends a lot of time with my kids in the summer. But, she would not support me in doing this. She would tell me I'm wasting my money blah blah blah. So I don't really want to rely on her while I recover if you see what I mean.

If you've had the op, how long did you need to recover before you could carry on a and go about your day to day business?

Hi Snow, sorry you've had to have surgery, and I hope you're well on the way to recovery now.

I had mine done on Feb 19th, so just over two weeks ago now and I'm back to almost normal! The op required one night's stay in hospital and took about three hours. I had inserts in both breasts, and the left one lifted (mastoplexy). It has been such a straightforward painless procedure that, if I didn't know I'd had it done, I wouldn't know I'd had it done - if that makes sense!

You're advised not to use your arms for pushing or levering movements at first, nor to lift heavy things, but apart from the first day, you can be up and about again. No driving for at least the first week, and maybe longer. You have to wear a sports bra day and night for at least the first month, although preferably longer. You also have to wear surgical stocking for 10-14 days after the op which, tbh, is what I've found the most inconvenient about the whole episode!

However, and it's a big however, although I also have 4 dc, mine are a lot older than mine and therefore able to look after themselves to a degree, plus dh was on board and very helpful. I've had all the dressings off and stitches out now, and I'm so delighted with my new shape - been planning this for 30 years!

I'm distracted (getting tea on!) so prob have missed out lots of info - please don't hesitate to ask me anything more.

There was a little bit of acheyness/stiffness/soreness but, honestly, nothing that I would describe as pain.

Also (sorry keep thinking of things) I started a thread here in S & B called something like "Come and tell me about your breast enlargement?" which had some good advice and interesting posts on.
