How easy is a grey handbag to wear with other colours?

Have my eye on a grey bag and am going to order a couple to try before the weekend is out .... BUT can I wear it with my tan/brown boots? I know it will go with everything else in my wardrobe but I must be able to use it when I'm wearing ankle boots! Anyone with an opinion please as I wouldn't usually put both those colours together! Thanks.

I think a grey bag goes fine with tan boots. The Marcie is divine

Oh there was another thread about wearing grey and tan together a while ago! Personally, I think greys and tans can look awesome together, depending on how it's done. I have grey opaque tights which I wear with tan brogues and I love it.

That said, if you don't like a grey with tan colour combination and you will be wearing tan boots a lot, probably avoid a grey handbag. If you do like it on the other hand, and you think you can make it work then I personally wouldn't worry about the 'rules'.

As jmangel says, there are plenty of images online of grey and tan outfits which look really cool (to me at least). It's all subjective obviously, but I certainly think you can wear grey and tan together and most people on the street won't think anything of it. If you make it work they might just think "nice outfit".

Is it the Mimi Berry grey bag on sale? - if so go for it - it is gorgeous and versatile

Floisme · 28/02/2016 10:37

I have grey boots and wear them with a brown bag.

I have brown boots that I wear with grey tights.

Tortoiseshell specs with a grey jumper.

I think I look fine. If you don't like it yourself then obviously don't do it. But if you're asking whether other people do it, then yes, all the time.

Only have a second and will come back properly later but yes, I agree, it's very do-able! Thanks for sending me to Pinterest jmangal! Loads of photos and was amazed to see tan bags with grey dresses etc ... looked really good but it does depend on colours.

I feel some bag ordering coming on this afternoon ... Anyone else placing an order Grin?!

Yikes .... have ordered! Two Marcies in grey and nut (thanks babybarrister for colour suggestion) along with the DKNY Blush! Shall have a try at home with full-length mirror, see which one I like best and return the others registered post! Thanks all!

Oh how exciting - lucky you! Hope you love one or two(!) of them to keep. That cookie is still chasing me!

Ponymagic · 02/03/2016 14:35

Lol ... the John Lewis parcel just arrived and the Chloe's are to be here before 5pm. Trying to resist opening until I can line them up all in a row! Grin

Oh my .. the Mini Marcie is to die for. Just beautiful but so small. Not sure it would even fit my purse. Need to have a proper play tomorrow but am in love with it.

Love the Marcie too. I have a grey mulberry alexa and I love it. I wear it with everything and never worry that it doesn't "go".

SuperFlyHigh · 02/03/2016 21:03

I think what you have to decide now is if the Marcie will be a bag you can only fit a tiny purse in or cards, keys etc... And if you want as well a larger bag.

Personally if it were me and you can afford it AND it works with your colour scheme for clothes I'd buy both. But that is me. I think the DKNY one and DKNYs generally as bags are very good value. Especially if you get in events like debenhams or house of Fraser with reductions (not sales) deals. They tend to last well from my experience too. In fact they all do. I do have an old Chloe Paddington bag which I wore to death and to be honest I don't think it was as well made as it could/should have been for the money, but it looked good battered. Same for my mulberry bags but the older ones seem better made and better value than newer ones.

Ponymagic · 03/03/2016 00:47

Grin Super! Just my thoughts! The Marcie for my 'me' bag but I also need something more practical to lug kids stuff around when we are out en famille. The DKNY doesn't work for me although it's a lovely bag - very well finished. It's a good size but too big on me cross-body and the handles are a tad too short to wear comfortably over shoulder. Am going to go and look at other DKNY alternatives though.

Will play with Marcie and see if my purse fits tomorrow and then it comes down to colour. The grey is lovely but so is the nut. I think I'd like whichever will look less dated a few years from now .... if that's possible. It's so dinky!

To be honest op I don't think the Marcie will date that much but perhaps the nut (not seen colour) won't date as much as the grey. I saw someone with a nice grey bag almost dark pebble colour this week was going to ask where from but thought it seemed too... Stalker?!!
