How often do you get a facial?

I read that ideally you should get a professional facial (with extractions) once a month.

Does anyone do this? If so, did you notice any visible improvement in your skin?

It sounds like a lot of work!

Oh I loved them savagebeauty especially the face massage at the end!

ScarletForYa · 26/02/2016 22:00

Never. Can't stand the feeling if anyone touching my face with oils/creams etc

Extractions?

Savagebeauty · 26/02/2016 22:09

I love the head massage while the masque is on. 15 minutes of sheer Bliss.

Greengardenpixie · 27/02/2016 15:05

Ive never had one in my life! I have given myself a face mask though :)

Greengardenpixie · 27/02/2016 15:06

Never had a manicure or a pedicure!

Pinkheart5915 · 27/02/2016 15:07

The only time I've ever had a facial is at spa hen weekends and such like.

I use st Ives apricot face scrub 3 times a week and it keeps my skin looking nice

MsMillyMollyMandy · 27/02/2016 16:07

Never. I have given myself a home facial after watching some you tube videos. I'm wary of new products after a horrible reaction to "Flawless Finish" make up I was trying out before my wedding!!
I prefer to use my own products at home.

findingmyfeet12 · 27/02/2016 16:12

I have one once a month. I find it relaxing and my skin does feel amazing afterwards. I suppose I could steam clean it at home and do the massage etc but I enjoy the experience.

I also get my chin and upper lip waxed at the same time as I suffer from a lot of dark facial hair.

SuperFlyHigh · 27/02/2016 17:55

When I was young I got lots of facials with rollers etc and extractions (before I knew about sebaceous filaments and thought they were blackheads).

I do occasionally have an aromatherapy one if included with massage.

I won't lie to you they made me look and feel nicer but not now had any for at least 8 years. My mum has rarely had them too and both our skin is glowy and nice.

FreeButtonBee · 27/02/2016 18:21

I do quite like a facial but mainly because I find them more relaxing than a massage. I don't consider them anything more than cosmetic/surface.

Katarzyna79 · 27/02/2016 18:24

whats a facial, seriously explain it. ive never had one, mother never and at 52 she looked amazing. her theory no crap on face, she never used make up she was youthful and beautiful. hopefully I take after her lol

I used to do mud masks years ago does that count? I found it dried my face out even once a month so I stopped it. I have clear skin, happy with it.

Katarzyna79 · 27/02/2016 18:26

greengardenpixie ditto I'd need nails for manicure don't have those, keep them trimmed short all the cleaning and cooking I do. pedicure no way I think id love a foot massage but really I cant stand anyone touching my feet I do my own.

amysmummy12345 · 27/02/2016 18:30

I had dermalogica facials at the local beauty college £5 as they were on offer for the month, I noticed a great improvement in my skin...

Parker231 · 27/02/2016 18:31

I go once a month and have done so for years - makes my skin feel lovely, it's relaxing, me time and I get my eyebrows done at the same time. I love the head massages - it's my favorite treat !

SnakeWitch · 27/02/2016 18:38

I had my first one last week and enjoyed every second. I think i mainly liked lying down snuggly under the towels with my eyes closed for a while!

Bunbaker · 27/02/2016 18:40

"Have one every six weeks.
I've never come out in spots afterwards.
At 56 I have great skin"

I have had two in my lifetime. I am 57 and have great skin Grin

findingmyfeet12 · 27/02/2016 18:42

I view them as a relaxing treat and I honestly don't think they offer any long term skin benefits.

oldlaundbooth · 28/02/2016 01:44

I have done once. Came out in spots afterwards. Haven't had once since. Waste of time and money.

wickedlazy · 28/02/2016 01:47

I've never had one.

HemanOrSheRa · 28/02/2016 01:58

Hmmmm. I've had the grand total of two facials in 44 years both times they brought me out in massive spots. I've bought high end products (gatineax, elemis, decleor, liz earle etc) over the years to try it at home but I have the same result. Huge great SPOTS. I've resigned myself to the fact that it's not for me so now stick to my tried and tested cleanse with hot cloth, a spritz of toner and an oil at night or Effaclar Duo for daytime. Any pimples I get are due to hormones.

I do like a pedicure though. And a good massage.

Destinysdaughter · 28/02/2016 02:08

I bloody love them! ( not the extractions tho, ouch!) I have Dermalogica ones too and they're sooo relaxing. They put a warm plastic cushion with water inside under my back and play New Agey music. It's like a meditation! Skin looks fresh and glowing afterwards too. They're about £50 tho so can't afford them too often but I'd go every month if I could!

HappinessLivesHere · 01/03/2016 15:05

I have them monthly, leaves my skin glowing for a good couple of weeks and I never get spots. She does a head and arm massage too. Then i get a back massage after. Absolute bliss!

MadameDePompom · 01/03/2016 15:15

I don't think they make much difference to a person's skin but I find them soooooooooooo blissfully relaxing.

I love paying strangers to touch me.

Freya888 · 01/03/2016 17:18

i attend when I needed

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 01/03/2016 17:27

I have good skin prone to seasonal dry patches. I like an ishga facial. Decleor too drying.
