Medium sized, cross body, brown leather bag, like a satchel but not...does it exist?

I have a very lovely cross body bag that is now a few years old and starting to look a bit shabby and one of the zips has broken, so I need a replacement.

I really like satchels but think the leather can be a bit stiff, so ideally I'd like something that style but a bit softer, if that makes sense? Needs to be cross body, to leave arms free. Not too small but then not massive either. Leather. Probably tan or brown but would consider other colours. Not black.

Maximum budget £100.

Am I being too fussy? I've been stalking TK Maxx for ages but have not seen anything that quite fits the bill.

Your budget may be an issue but was going to suggest Radley, Fossil and even Modalu.

White Stuff has bags around £50-£60.

I have a beautiful Anna Kaszer bag which fits this description. Google her, the bags are gorgeous!

I actually found a fab one in the men's department in Debenhams last year. Even better - it had been £99 but was in blue cross down to just £15. It's fab. Good quality soft leather. You can get loads of stuff in it and is ideal for holidays - ie the bag you put your passports, boarding tickets, phone, ipod in.

Mine is from marks and spencer and it's a great quality leather. Only thing I would change about it is that it has a fabric strap and not leather, but it was only £69.

WoodleyPixie · 18/02/2016 17:37

I think this is this seasons version to mine. Mine is a zipped front pocket rather than lock

very similar to this bag Maybe not the prettiest, but incredibly useful.

tribpot · 18/02/2016 17:42

Definitely some nice (if you like utilitarian, which I do) options at Debenhams. I have a Mango one which is too short, it's cross body but only just, so I'm in the market for another one.

I bought a lovely brown cross body Fossil bag, bnwt from eBay for £65 on advice after starting a similar thread.

Paddingtonthebear · 18/02/2016 17:51

Look at eBay. There are some beautiful bags to be found on there at the moment, often in excellent condition

Oly5 · 18/02/2016 20:46

These Fossil bags are worth every penny
I'm just waiting for them to bring out the new spring colours. I adore mine!

Scaramanga do gorgeous bags. I think there's a code for 10% off at the mo, free10.

TippyHaha · 18/02/2016 21:23

Do a Google image search for Rowallan bags. I've got a lovely brown crossbody bag that is a super shape and size - structured but soft and in the most beautiful chestnut brown. Have also seen Rowallan bags in TK Maxx in the past.

kiwidreamer · 18/02/2016 22:03

I have had this one for a few months now and its great, quite a few nice options if you search tan bag on Debenhams...

A lot of scaramanga bags are hugely stiff,

I've a Manbag! TKMaxx Kenneth Cole Reactions.....so def worth looking in the gent's depts, mine was £40 ish and I was HUGELY surprised when i realised it is leather.

Have seen lovely fossil bags in there too on occasion.

RoseValleyRambles · 18/02/2016 22:12

I have a Lakeland one: they have decent range. www.lakelandleather.co.uk/

BornToFolk · 19/02/2016 11:25

So many great bags, thank you!
My favourites so far are the Peony & Moore one (though I think it might be a bit small) and the "Medina" one from NOTH.
I really like the Lakeland ones too. And I can't believe I didn't think of Fossil...I love Fossil stuff and actually have one of their purses so I'll have a good rootle around ebay later.
