hairdressers tomorrow with no clue

Finally booked in at a salon tomorrow morning for a much needed restyle.
I have ombre at the moment which I'd like cut out which will leave me with hair just above shoulder length. It's currently down my back so a lot is going.
I'd say my face is oval? Wider at the forehead and cheeks and thinner at my chin? No idea if that's right.
Do I go for a side fringe or not?
Not very girlie so no idea what to ask for. Help!!
