New Jeans shape?

Higge · 06/02/2016 09:50

Joseph Caro Jeans

I know they are really expensive but I can't stop thinking about them. I love the waist, I really love the slouchy trouser thing.
I am in the process of slimming down, hopefully from a 12 to a 10, so I'm not buying them till that happens....I'm thinking I could wear these everyday....I could just about justify the price if they were an everyday casual piece. Grin
Has anyone tried them? Or is it just me that loves them?

Oh god I love them too. 5.10 height and love the slouchy but fitted look of them. Damn!

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 06/02/2016 22:15

I think they'll catch on. Which means that if you hold your nerve for 6 months you'll be able to get them from Zara.

LadyIsabellaWrotham · 06/02/2016 22:18

I've got a lovely pair of Kate Hepburn slouchy grey flannels that I wear to work with heels but they don't have the crucial tapered ankle.

quirkychick · 07/02/2016 12:01

LadyIsabella I have a similar grey pair from Great Plains, my go to for smarter occasions, though I love them with trainers too. Years ago I had a boiled wool pair from gap and a navy pinstripe pair from boden. Both were worn to death.

Larastheme · 07/02/2016 12:45

I love them too, but at 5'5 think they will look too much on me, , the design is very Rachel comey ,thinks she is the "one" who began this oversized /new grunge /1980s Brooklyn NY influence and now everyone is following ,

cressetmama · 09/03/2016 08:34

Just out of interest, has anyone tried these jeans on? I have been thinking about them since Higge first posted the link and am seriously thinking about making a trip to Joseph to try them....

BeStrongAndCourageous · 09/03/2016 08:38

Oh, I love them!

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 09/03/2016 08:39

I think this is Emperors New Clothes.

They are simply builders' shell suit/ trackie bottoms in a different fabric.

thewookieswife · 09/03/2016 08:48

I'm thinking only the Tall with a flat stomach could make these look flattering, otherwise forget it !

BeStrongAndCourageous · 09/03/2016 08:48

Or...maybe different people have different taste, Unmentionable?

BeStrongAndCourageous · 09/03/2016 08:50

Sorry, Unmentioned, not Unmentionable!

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 09/03/2016 08:55

Yes, exactly, bestrong that's why I posted my views on them.

Potterwolfie · 09/03/2016 09:00

Those are stunning but I don't think I could spend that much on a pair of jeans. ..I know it makes sense in a quality over quantity sense but still. ..

I'm a 5ft 11 pear with small waist and I often wear wide legged trousers with a fitted top...These would be a perfect addition. ..curse you for bringing them to my attention! Grin

BeStrongAndCourageous · 09/03/2016 09:03

Well, yes, but calling "Emperor's New Clothes" suggests you think that those of us who like them are just being suckered in by The Next Big Thing, rather than, y'know, just liking them.

I've been waiting years for slouchy trousers to come back into fashion, not because I care about being fashionable - I'm not in the least - but just so I'll be able to buy my preferred style in shops which have been flooded with skinnies for a long time!

UnmentionedElephantDildo · 09/03/2016 09:08

Fashion is always about being suckered, though, isn't it?

And sometimes it does go to lengths which look ridiculous. I do not expect everyone to like and dislike the same things. Or see the boundaries of ridiculous in the same place. But I do expect to be able to say my view as much as everyone else says theirs.

BeStrongAndCourageous · 09/03/2016 09:14

Right, clearly no one can possibly have formed an opinion of their own likes and dislikes over a number of years and their own experience of what works for them, they must just being suckered....Hmm

I didn't say that. I said I think it's Emperor's new clothes.

I also think that the industry is based on encouraging consumption.

You do not have to agree with me (never said anyone should) but can I make a little plea that you refrain from attempting to silence posters who do not agree with you?

BeStrongAndCourageous · 09/03/2016 09:39

I haven't at any point tried to silence you, I was disagreeing with you, and giving my reasons why.

niminypiminy · 09/03/2016 09:41

I've been wanting those for a while (in vain as no way can I afford them). I'm all about wideleg jeans at the moment. What I love about that Joseph pair is the simplicity, the clever cutting so that they don't pool round your feet, and the way they make the fabric flow. Am also totally over stretch denim so the raw, unstretchy dark stuff looks lovely.

Floisme · 09/03/2016 12:36

As someone who got suckered into wearing skinnies even though I knew they didn't look good, I don't think I'm in a position to call anything ridiculous.

These new shapes won't suit everyone but then nothing does. I just think they're a breath of fresh air and I'm pleased to see some choice at last.

fresta · 09/03/2016 13:21

New shape? I think not, clowns have been wearing these for years!

cressetmama · 09/03/2016 18:22

I'm sure I can't really afford them, but I don't want another pair of skinnies, nor boyfriends, and I have been looking for ages to replace my "best jeans" with some that are not ankle length. I am wanting a pair with longevity. But, I am also not 5' 10" .... the tummy is reasonably flat though!

Madbengalmum · 09/03/2016 18:26

Fresta, great minds!
I just thought clown.

TheDowagerCuntess · 10/03/2016 04:35

Oh wow, am slightly thrilled that wider bottom halves and fitted top halves (aka all saints in the 90s) may actually be be coming back into shops.

I am so over voluminous, tent-like top halves. 5'10", modest of boob, small waist, but tree trunk pins.

I really like these, but couldn't justify the cost when buying online from the arse-end of the planet without trying them on. am hoping the pp who said they'll be in Zara in 6 months' time is right, as will be in the UK then!

Not sure why fitted-waist, wide-legged trousers would be seen as 'emperor's new clothes' - it's a classic shape.

Floisme - not surprised to see you here! Grin
