Help, please!

Hey, everyone! Merry crimbo!

Yes, I need a little advice.
I bought a really nice single breasted, knee length, slim fitting coat yesterday. It's a medium/dark grey and has a very slight swing to it.

As usual, I'm a little confused.

1. Am I limited to only trousers/jeans?
2. Can I wear any colours?

You can wear skirts so long as they are either completely covered by the coat or properly long to the ankle - not just a couple of inches sticking out.
Most colours look good with grey but I might go carefully with brown.

i'd just add to that excellent advice - the long skirt should be fairly slim to avoid edwardian lady look. (i have done this with a-line skirt/straight coat so you are less at risk)

actually I quite like the Edwardian lady look, in its place - I flatter myself that the long swishy cord skirt with slimmer coat buttoned over chimes stylistically with my slightly-heeled boots...

but I may be deluding myself

ah but i was in flat boots and have rather wide shoulders. i expect you look charming, i looked like a FISHTAIL with a head [scarred for life]

I've tried the coat on with a few skirts, long and short, still looks kinda dodgy to me, particularly as I'm only 5'4. Think I might have to stick to jeans, dammit.

I thought greys could only be worn with blacks/blues. So, can I "wear" my lovely red shoulder bag with it?

Wish I had more sense of style. Ah well.
