I am going on holiday in 4 weeks to Tenerife. Although i am trying to beat the post Christmas bulge i have the previous 18 months of excess baggage still hanging around my very ample middle.

I am age 53, 5'6" and usually wear a size 16. I would like a navy costume which is not too revealing (no deep plunges or high legs etc) but still looks stylish and makes me feel good about myself. I carry weight round my middle and HATE myself from the side so it needs to be fairly robust to keep all my flab at bay.

Anyone got any idea where this holy grail of a swimsuit exists in dark and cold January?

M&s or next should have their new stock in
Or what about something like this from figleaves

Having spent all of last Summer looking for the elusive swimsuit, Ive come to the conclusion that it would be easier to lose weight :-(

Not navy but black - I got a black full piece swimsuit from John Lewis. Straight across the chest. It has that tummy controlling/spanx type stuff in it. A little tricky to pull on but is very flattering. I bought it Nov last year so could still be in stock??

The M&S one is nice. Quite simple which i like. The Zoggs one is very "swimmy' if you know what i mean? I have a proper swimsuit already. I want a posher one for sunbathing in.

M&S have a good selection. I really like this one.

I've got a couple from Sainsburys of all places!
Mine are patterned and I have a red one and a pink one but my mom has a navy one very similar to this tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/tustorefront/?pagetype=product&productcode=128694304-Navy and they're really flattering

ZaZathecat · 11/01/2016 13:27

I have an M&S one similar to those posted and it's great. I am a similar shape to you OP.

justaweeone · 11/01/2016 13:58

Not navy but think this might be flattering on. It's a speedo one but not speedo that we used to wear for school swimmimg!

zaza How do the M&S ones size? I am longish in the body. The striped one comes in long. I think i might get the 16 in long and the 18 in regular and see how they fit.

I have one like this from Zoggs, which I love and is really flattering. They've got a few others on sale.

ZaZathecat · 11/01/2016 15:14

I'd say the size is generous (like all their clothes) but I am average height, around 5'6" so the normal length was ok for me.

ZaZathecat · 11/01/2016 15:17

Oh just noticed you are 5'6" too. Still it'll depend if you have a longer or shorter body to leg ratio I guess.

Bambooshoots14 · 11/01/2016 15:41

I've got a navy white striped one from next which has a ruched bit over the tummy and is very flattering

Bambooshoots14 · 11/01/2016 15:42

It's the second one primal posted but was last season so they had in striped
