coconut oil OMG :)

I started using coconut oil for pulling...oh it's hideous and I'm left with a huge jar of virgin coconut oil.

So two days ago I researched using it for cleaning and use as a moisturiser and eye cream.

Today I look in mirror expecting to see my usual dry skin and a few wrinkles under my eyes. I'm amazed...the papery lines have disappeared and a deeper line (caused by allergy/sinus/puffy eyes has almost gone too Shock

Has anyone else any experience of using coconut oil, good or bad? In the meantime I just wanted to share because it might be suitable for others. I also reason that £11 of this stuff will last 6 months, so Creme de le mer can stuff their cream Grin

Sorry leigh, the pulling in the bit I quoted referred to oil pulling.

Mix with a small quantity of oregano oil apply twice daily and it will cure fungal nail infection. And athletes foot. The combination prevents all aspects of fungal growth. (Yes tried it..yes works..suck on that unless commercial£20 pen application of crap)

Thanks Purple for your comment but that's what I meant. I actually don't know what oil pulling is 😳

Leigh1980 · 09/01/2016 08:39

Oh ok. I just read your comment before your previous one about it. I understand now thanks for clarifying it.

No problem! I meant to write swilling a load of oil around your mouth for 20 minutes.. I've reported my post and hopefully the very unfortunate typo will be changed by Mnhq.

Leigh, where did you get the 97% aloe Vera from?

GooodMythicalMorning · 09/01/2016 10:27

I love it for my psoriasis on my neck/scalp. rub it on and it stops the itching for a good few hours. it works better for me than anything the dr prescribed.

I love coconut oil, it's a life saver. I just get it from Asda in the cooking oils aisle about £5 for a big jar.
I keep it in the bathroom and I'll either put a spoonful in the bath as a very moisturising bath oil. or keep it in the shower to warm it up to it's liquid state and then use it head to toe. I'll finger comb a small amount through my hair when it's wet (never dry) and use it all over as a body oil while my skin is still wet. I'll sometimes use it on my face but usually at night, as it's a bit too rich for daytime use.
I am mixed race with very thick afro hair and it's great for bringing out the curls and controlling frizz.

I got it from Clicks which is the South African equivalent to Boots. It lasts for ages. I'm sure you should be able to get it in the UK.

It was actually by pure accident I did this as I was using the Aloe Vera to help with my itchy leg and I saw on the tube that it is good for wrinkles and anti aging. I normally use the Nivea Creme blue tin which is really really good for a face cream. So one night I combined the two together as an experiment and th next day my skin was soft and dewy and my fine lines were much lighter. So I used it again and now my brow lines have gone. I googled it and there were lots of good reviews on both Nivea and aloe Vera. I've always used anti wrinkling cream in the past and none have given me the results as this has.

The Nivea Creme is great for masks. You out a thick layer on. Wait for ten minutes and put a steaming hot facial cloth in your face and your skin looks really rejuvenated afterwards.

Disclaimer- I don't work for an Aloe Vera company lol. I also don't have sensitive skin. I have combination skin.

Leigh, are there different types of Aloe gel I can buy? Want to try this.

XiCi · 09/01/2016 16:50

You can get the aloe vera gel from holland and barrett. It makes an excellent primer. I've used smashbox and laura mercier before and it beats them hands down
