hair and humidity, can I ever look groomed

after leaving the house?

Supposing I blow dry my hair sleek and smooth, should there be any dampness in the air the long fringe which I cannot do without has curled up into Farrah Fawcett / curly cows horns at either side of my face before I reach the garden gate. Where am I going wrong? I instantly look unkempt!

I am so inspired by the expensive look thread but despair of achieving it without relocating to the Mohave.

This happens to me too. No matter how straight it is when I leave the house, if there is a hint of moisture in the air my hair takes on a life if it's own. The only solution I have so far is to wear a hat and then it stays pretty smooth.

The only things that help are
a) professional live-in blow dryer
b) crisp, frosty weather so hair becomes static
c) a hat

So, a hat, basically.

Lots of sympathy. I've just returned from 3 weeks in a humid climate and omg many photos taken are not fit to view just coz of the hair. Dd was the same. It was interesting as we emerged from Heathrow into our car her hair just looked better even though we'd been on planes for over half a day!!

I'd suggest getting the hair 'rebonded' or any of those sort of professional straightening treatments. Costly but a godsend. And they last for a few months.

If I ever move to that sort of climate permanently that's the first thing I'd do!!

I think people look best with a style that suits their natural hair texture. Get a cut that works with waves.

I have tried and failed in this same battle. Omg, but when I go abroad to non humid places, my hair looks amazing and my blow dry lasts all day.

In the uk, this is what I find helps:

• a good anti humidity product (L'anza smooth or Living Proof No Frizz)
• good blow dry with professional hair dryer but minimum hair brushing (dry upside down)
• hair to be completely dry before leaving the house
• good anti humidity hairspray. At the moment am using Living Proof control spray but used Aveda in the past too.
• hair covered until indoors
• minimum brushing
• no frizz brush. Don't know if that's its official name, but can get brushes where the bristles are thick and spaced out.

This helps but doesn't completely solve the problem.

I have this too...given in now. My hair is thick and wiry, wavy and frizzy in humidity. It's not curly and it's not straight. If I curl it, it isn't too bad, if I straighten it...oh dear. So I wear it up in a bunch on damp or humid days.

Brazilian Blowout. Best thing ever. I had a salon one done and am now contemplating a DIY version as the stuff is available through Amazon. Three months of smooth, swingy, shiny hair that dries in five minutes with a rough blast of a hairdryer and looks like you've spent 90 min with straighteners but better.
