Leather Jacket - questions

Ok. I have a big birthday coming up. (40. Sssh.) I am being asked what I would like. I THINK I would like a black leather jacket but I am concerned that a) I am too old at 40 (I know I'm not really but what if I am?) b) if I get one will it instantly become naff (I want to believe they are classic) and c) where can I get a decent soft, not-shiny, not too bikery but still biker-y-ish one preferably in the sales?

My brother was the designer for BLK DNM and did some of their leather jackets! (Proud sister)

I had to buy a small mens BLK jacket, couldn't get the women's version over my shoulders, am only a size 10-12. Fab jackets though.

Mominatrix - that is so cool. I'm envious of the BLK DNM free stuff you must get!

MsBojangles - I have the BLK DNM women's leather jacket 1 in Medium. Fit fine during Oz Winter (july) when I was a size 12 - which is why I need to get back before Oz Winter comes again! I think the leather jacket 8 is smaller.

Ah, it was the jacket 8 that I tried, even the large was tight around the armholes and shoulders. I'm tall though so the mens is fine, nice to have the extra length in the arms too.

Have you tried their jeans, wonder what the sizing is like?

I like the collarlessones better - less bulk - asymetrical hang strange.
There are lots of leather specialist shops. Try those rather than brands.
Although id love a Chloe jacket

I haven't tried their jeans - but I've read raves about them.

I have another one that I got on a heavy discount - Schott Perfecto with the detachable fur collar. I think it will be perfect for fall/spring.

Banana Republic are worth a look, I got a beautiful taupe jacket in the summer sales
