Bobs - are they high maintenance

I loved Sarah Harding's (girls aloud) bob on Jonathan Ross last week, but as I am lazy and slovenly with hair so thin and fine it's practically a combover, then high maintenance do's are not for me.
What's the verdict - did anyone see her bob by any chance? It was a bit layered, with a little fringe. I really can't be bothered with wax and gunk and lots of faffing, but could do with updating my current look which is somewhere between Princess Anne and Janis Joplin .

mines not but i have a great animal head of hair and not over particularily about my appearance.

I have thin hair in a bob and need to wash and straighten it every day. Think it depends a lot on your hair type.

ProfessorGrammaticus · 15/12/2006 21:21

They are high maintenance if your hair has the slightest kink in it, yes. Don't know why I have one - can't seem to think of an alternative, just go longer or shorter a bit

Well damn, that's a shame.

Thought you were coming to get me for that rogue apostrophe in my OP Professor!

I have a no-fringe, side-parted bob - it's been 'my' cut since I was a teenager. You know - walk into hairdressers and say do whatever you like and the hairdresser says 'A bob would be lovely'.... Even htough I've experimented over the years nothing comes close.

I have fine hair but lots of it. Pretty straight although getting a slight kink in it now.

VERY LOW maintenance - cut well. Wash and condition every morning whilst in the shower. Towel dry. Part on side. Eat breakfast/drink tea/coffee. Blast with hairdryer. Leave house.

aren't all men high maintenance, Bob, Pete, whatever

ProfessorGrammaticus · 15/12/2006 22:15

Trying to relax on my grammar as it's friday night

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 15/12/2006 22:22

my bob is high maintenance because my hair is getting wavier as I get older not fair!

mousiemousie · 16/12/2006 08:18
  1. Get a good cut every 6 weeks.
  2. Wash and blow dry every 2 days.
  3. Look fantastic

This is fairly low maintenance in my opinion. I love my new bob!

LITTLEdonkeyFISH · 16/12/2006 08:53

I'm afraid it just all depends on your hair type.

I have dead straight hair, and bobs are the only thing that work for me.

I agree with mousiemousie, you have to have them cut regularly and wash them regularly. I do mine every day. But, hair in good condition, in a well cut bob always looks fabulous and glossy.
