MARKS & SPENCER DISAPPOINTING

What a disappointment. I know Black Friday may not be the ideal time to visit the store, but honestly, what a load of old tat.
Christmas/party selection seems to consists of the nastiest, itchiest material with sequins stuck on it. Looks cheap, but in reality is anything but!
Cashmere in the sale, horrible. Not a single pair of SZ 14 jeans in Long.
Can't believe how poor the quality of their clothes are. Is it me, or does anyone else agree?

I waited for the £150! cashmere grey print scarf to be reduced to nothing and now they've sold out at full price.

Can't find it, B&E, but remember the lace back black one? That in burgundy.

I am gutted - have a gorgeous cashmere jumper from there that I got last year. It's a sort of heather-ish colour and v lovely and really suits me. But it is a size 10, and sadly I am not anymore.

Not been in store recently but their flowers arrived DOA. Not impressed.

Emailed to complain, they never replied. They do not seem to give a fuck.

I do find it bizarre that their food is so good and their clothes so appalling. It's like they are 2 completely different stores!

polyhymnia · 29/11/2015 12:07

I think the fresh food - fruit and veg, meat, smoked salmon etc - is good (though the cheese is really boring and bland). But a lot of it consists of ready meals, mostly quite bland and often rather 'artificial tasting '.

So I think that, though the food is quite pricy, the target market for it, as with the food, isn't really all that upmarket, more middle of the road. I say that as someone who regularly shops in the food section. (Though my DH won't touch the ready meals.)

I love their 2 salads for £3, really lovely, healthy ingredients and so tasty!

Pippin8 · 01/12/2015 20:01

My online purchases were a mixed bag. The bra had 1 strap sewn on back to front & was generally poorly made & the heat-gen top is more of a base layer. However, I was particularly impressed with the REN skincare set, the moisturiser smells like Sisley black rose. Also the £15 grey skinny jeans fit perfectly.

CointreauVersial · 01/12/2015 22:22

Pippin - heat-gen IS a base layer.

polyhymnia · 02/12/2015 00:04

Yes those salads are quite nice.

Higge · 02/12/2015 07:26

I like the food but I approach the clothing with caution.

Pippin8 · 02/12/2015 07:31

Duh! I thought the sparkly ones were for everyday wear. It is a bit thin & see through but with a poncho or gilet over it'll be fine.

Coastingit · 02/12/2015 13:16

I did well - got an olive cotton open-knit rip hem jumper from Autograph, reduced from £45 to £7.99! And a pair of black cuffed joggers reduced from £22 to £7.99.

Don't understand the bile thrown at M and S on here, it's my fave shop.

Coastingit · 02/12/2015 13:16

Dip hem not rip hem

hollyisalovelyname · 03/12/2015 00:13

Can they really not do midi briefs in nude cotton? Not that awful synthetic stuff.
Grrr!
