Winter shoes to wear with straight leg jeans?

I usually wear flat ballet pumps but it's just getting too cold! I really haven't got a clue what shoes to wear this winter. I have some navy converses but I don't think they look great. Please advise me!

I always switch to boots for the winter, I like quite chunky, heavy duty ones! Preferably lined with something cosy, I'm not a fan of the cold.

Are they wide enough to get boots under them though? If not how about brogues, or are they only good with skinny jeans?

I have some chunky Merrell lined boots from last year. I just worry it looks like I've shoved my jeans into them and also wonder if they make my legs look short. I am hopefully being paranoid but this is why I usually end up wearing dresses and tights in winter.

I wear my jean rolled up, a very short leg warmer, then ankle boots.
Hudson do lovely boots.

I usually wear palladium boots. It's easy to combine them with my clothes. They fit almost to everything and have cool design + really, really comfortable.

I wear these ankle boots with mine. They are unbelievably comfortable.
