Ponchos - How do you style yours?

Following on from the other threads about them I was just curious about how you wear yours. I have one (plain dark tealy-blue), but I haven't worn it yet as I'm not sure which way to style it.

Firstly, are they a cosy extra layer for indoors or a substitute for a coat or jacket outside?

Do you wear a jumper under yours (i.e. another warm layer) or a light layer (e.g, a long sleeved t or shirt)?

Can they be worn over skirts or do they look best over jeans or trousers?

Would love to know which way you wear yours so I can copy you Grin

Thanks Vipers!

i wear mine on not so cold days as an outer layer on top of a sweater and jeggings. On colder days i wear as an extra outer layer on top of jacket, coat, vest. Mine is a long rectangular shape so hangs down over the arms more than in front or back as a square shape will. It gives new life to older outer wear .

Thank you carrie, I'll have a look.

My post was meant to say 'I love my plum coloured ...'

I wear mine as a coat when its cold but dry, over jeans and a jumper, and I love it. BUT I cannot work out how to carry a bag with it. You can't put the bag over your shoulder, and wearing it underneath looks weird. Have taken to carrying shoulder bag in my hand which is a drag. So I usually just wear it for short trips out i.e. to the pub or a friends house.

saw somebody today wearing a cross body bag on top of the poncho. Looked fine as it reined in the flaps . can also wear a cross body under or a top handle.
