Best packet (home) hair dye to turn mid brown hair dark blonde

I've got some red in my hair - I'm about 15 per cent grey and have bleached ends which are being cut off tomorrow. I want to go lighter, it suits me as I have green eyes and fairly pale skin (with 'olive'undertones)
I used to have my hair highlighted but it never seems to turn out how I'd like it. I don't mind if the dark blonde is a warm one (with red tones in).
I don't want to go too red though. Caramel-ish. Advice please.

Home dyes don't tend to lighten hair, you would likely need a pre lightener first.

I have mid/dark brown hair with some grey.
I use Superdrugs permenant dye (the blonde shades but I can't remember the exact one, colour 9-something)
I use a highlight kit (Superdrugs) when it's long enough.

My hair is short so I don't get a load of overlap (cut every 6 weeks, dye every 4 weeks) .
It gives me a gingery coppery tone (if I use the dye alone. The highlights are much lighter on me)

And if my hair was longer, it would be wrecked .
I like the colour more than growth though.
