If you're short, are there any fashion bloggers who speak to you?? do they exist?

Just reading the thread about fashion bloggers and wondering if there are any who get that as a short person, you have to really think that much harder about cut, colour, fabric, style, top half and bottom half working together, heel.... It really is rocket science looking half-decent when you're only 5'1" and 9 stone. Those taller bloggers could throw on anything and it would look alright! I like the DMBL40IT blog though. Poppy looks like a mad thing. I'd go out for a drink with her but I wouldn't take her fashion advice! Wine

Have you seen Mission: Style? Karen is petite.

JacobFryesTopHatLackey · 26/10/2015 11:15

I love www.extrapetite.com/
She is so pixie like and beautiful. Although her style is a bit too polished for me, she's made me think about cuts and tailoring and the importance of getting the right fit.

F0xglove · 26/10/2015 11:29

Thanks for those, I will check them both out later.

I don't know what style you like but Olivia Rink (Lovely Little Style) is 4'11"

BlueEyedWonder · 28/10/2015 07:28

I'm 5ft and 7 stone 5 so I hear you OP!!
Definitely second Misson Style. Karen is around 5ft 1 I think and her blog features lots of items from petite ranges.

CuteAsaF0x · 28/10/2015 08:16

Wow, Olivia Looks good but she weighs 90 pounds. I weigh 125 so I must look like a barrel compared to her as she looks 'right' not super thin. Scary thought. I'm only two inches taller as well. Shock

hugoagogo · 28/10/2015 09:10

I take it none of them are 5ft and chunky?

CuteAsaF0x · 28/10/2015 09:24

Doesn't look like it!!

They're all so slim that their figures are easy to dress, despite being short. I think, their shortness still looks 'elongated' in a photo because they're so thin, iyswim.

I am 5'1" and nine stone and although I am not fat it is still a challenge to look good. Not that I never manage it, but you can't just pull on any old thing, and not every trend works. I shoudl start my own!?!

hugoagogo · 28/10/2015 09:42

You should; nine stone is a distant memory for me, but you are right they all look good in anything because they are so slim.

There are loads of larger bloggers but they are all seem to be tall with good arms and legs-from where I am- short with stumpy legs and fat arms they have an fairly easy job too.

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 30/10/2015 15:54

cuteasafox please do a blog! As a 5'1" 9 stoner so much looks wrong on me. Skinnies, scarves, floaty things, knee high boots, a line skirts..... all present challenges!

nickEcave · 30/10/2015 17:00

I'm 4ft 11, 9 and half stone (about a stone of that in the boobs) Grin I agree with rewardchart's list of clothes which are challenging. I literally ONLY look good in fitted/skimming dresses which stop on or above the knee

CuteAsaF0x · 30/10/2015 17:08

Oh yes, I never wear anything floaty! I'd look like dora the explorer in an a-line skirt!

Well, BLOG might be pushing me to the limits of my creativity but I'll link to things I've bought that I think work well for small people!

I only wear fitted things really. Almost, but not too tight. But the trouble is that I'm only ever 3lbs away from my entire wardrobe looking too tight! But if I go a size bigger, I look shapeless.

nickEcave · 30/10/2015 17:11

Just wanted to add that my favourite blogger is www.aclotheshorse.co.uk/ I think she's around 5 foot 1 although also extremely slim but I identify with her as someone who pretty much always wears dresses!

whostolethesocks · 30/10/2015 21:46

Watching with interest. I'm 5ft and have put on quite a bit of weight recently. Nothing seems to look good on me :-( I hardly ever buy anything as I can't find anything right so end up in the same clothes all the time.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 30/10/2015 23:28

I agree, if you're super slim then it's bloody easy to find things that look good whether you're short or tall. I'm neither here nor there, and not skinny either.

My curvy 5 foot nothing friend is a size 16 and looks tremendous. Being gorgeous helps no doubt. She oozes sex appeal somehow. I should get her to start a blog!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 31/10/2015 13:27

I bought this white stuff skirt recently. It's designed to sit above the knee. And it's on sale!

I like biker boots, short, straight-cut skirts and loose fitting trousers that are snug on the hips. And love jersey style close fitting dresses but can't wear them due to breastfeeding and tummy issues!

CuteAsaF0x · 31/10/2015 13:34

I like that skirt!

I think when you're short you have to ignore the reputation that shops have on mumsnet. I've read fat face and white stuff slagged off for being mumsy but i bought this outfit for an interview recently and because it fit well, I felt ''tall'' (ok, that's a stretch)

With a small heel. And a fitted/tight (!) v-neck short sleeve jumper underneath.

I've also bought tops from country casuals which would be MOCKED on here. And in real life, and maybe rightly so, as most of their stuff is very WI. But they have a few things that look very 'Hobbs' and if you get them in the sale, nobody else will have them!

If you're short, are there any fashion bloggers who speak to you?? do they exist?

CuteAsaF0x · 31/10/2015 13:36

whatthefoxxgoingon you should tell her to. For sure. It's assumed anybody who isn't tall and thin wants to look like they're dressing for church I sometimes think.

CuteAsaF0x · 31/10/2015 13:40

I bought this boden top recently Blush and it is great with dark jeans. I delude myself that I am quite elongated when I wear the two together. The fabric is heavy and makes it feel smart. The zips give it an edge that is a bit less boden than usual. Biker-lite!

HaveYouTriedARewardChart · 31/10/2015 14:08

Ooh I like blazers a lot, and in fact amy thing "tailored". But wouldn't suit my lifestyle just now - school run in all (Scottish) weathers pushing double buggy up a hill five miles a day! Will be nice to dress more smartly when I eventually get back to being in an office.

CuteAsaF0x · 31/10/2015 15:01

I bought this jacket haveyoutriedarewardchart because I think it's a good way to look smart if you can get a blazer that fits. The sleeves of this jacket aren't too long so I feel casual and smart in it. You knwo what I mean Confused

I can't read Mission; Style because the ; should be a :.

Sweetsweetjane · 01/11/2015 15:03

I'm 5' and currently at my heavier weight of 9 11.
I hate being this size but due to medication and mobility issues I struggle to lose weight. I also struggle with heels due to my dodgy joints so very hard to even give the impression of being slightly taller and slimmer.
I have broad shoulders, big arms and I don't have big boobs so can't even pull off a sexy hourglass although I do have a Hugh Jarse (Simpsons humour...)
I will check out those shirt people blogs tho and see if I can find inspiration, I spend all my time and money trying to find the perfect flattering 'thing'.
I had a style consultation a couple of years ago when still married and much slimmer, not the beautiful clothes I bought then no longer fit, I spent a fortune on them too ??

Sweetsweetjane · 01/11/2015 15:03

*Short people not shirt people obvs....
