I have a hairdressers appointment today. Suggestions please

I currently have long straight hair. Is quite fine but heavy so just hangs giving me a witch like look when I wear it down.
Now, I want something different. Seeing Les Cocker on EE looking more lady Luke than me, I want a softer look.
I'm tall, about 5'10 and wear a size 18. I always always wear my hair up and I'm bored.
I wear glasses.
In my head I look like a good cross between Julia Roberts and Catherine Zita Jones. In the mirror I look more like Cathy Burke.
Suggestions please ;-)

What did you go for?

I told the stylist I'd judge her judgement. She went for just above the shoulders with a few layers at the back and a standalone side fringe. Looks nice.
