Hqw do I prevent 'gold' jewellery going dark and dull on me?

I have a few gold necklaces that I know aren't actually gold but cost around the £25 - £35 mark so not as cheapo as say Primark. After I've worn them a few times the go much darker and dull I'm assuming it's some kind of reaction to my skin and the ones I have that are longer and tend oo sit on my clothing don't do this. Is there anything I can do to stop it? I really love the look of gold, but can't always to afford the real thing.

Cheap jewellery will always tarnish. Instead of buying several cheap versions, save the money until you can buy something that will last. It will be less disappointing in the long run.

You could try coating them with clear nail polish.

The clear nail varnish will go cloudy as it reacts to skin pH levels too.

Nail polish or
Buy a bronze alloy
Or 9ct gold which isn't much more expensive than the prices you mention

Cheap is expensive.

Hmm I knew you'd all say that, I was hoping there was an easy answer.

I give my "gold" jewellery a rub with a microfibre cloth occasionally which keeps it nice and shiny. I store the better bits in those little drawstring bags you sometimes get with the jewellery. Also is it possible you are spraying perfume or hairspray onto yourself after you've put the jewellery on, I heard a woman complain about a brand new watch going discoloured and the SA had no sympathy for her as it stated on the receipt not to spray perfume on it.
