Suitable foundation for pale skin

I am after a foundation which works for pale skin. I have tried many different brands (Mac, Bare Minerals, Benefit, Max Factor, Loreal, Revon etc) with no success. All of the foundations I have tried always look orange like on my skin and are too dark, despite me purchasing the palest shade available. Is there any other brands which I could try? Or does anyone here have any recommendations? I was tempted to try the Estée Lauder double wear foundation, as I have heard good reviews about this. Any suggestions?

I am pale and Clinique and No 7 are both too dark for me. I have the same problem where everything just looks orange on me too. Don't have any suggestions but just wanted to say you're probably better off not bothering with those two!

I thought I was pale, but a work colleague practically glows in the dark she's so pale. Her skin is gloriously luminous, and she uses a foundation from urban decay. Says it's one of the only ones not to look orange on her.

The Dainty doll makeup range was designed for pale skin. I have no idea how good it is though.
Are you pink or yellow toned? I wonder if foundations are looking orange because you are getting the wrong tone.
Bobbi brown are meant to be good for yellow toned.
I also find the pale Lily Lolo pretty pale and they do sample sizes. They don't do a pale yellow though.

Illamasqua skin base. Very pale shades and lovely finish

The palest Imhave come across, and the only one that works on DD's 'paper white ' skin comes from Pixi

If you are in London, they have a shop just off Carnaby St

Honestly, any of you who struggle to get a shade pale enough, just mix with a bit of pure white foundation, it's the only way to get pale enough for those who really are white. As a vitiligo sufferer I know. Dainty doll for pale skin is discontinued by the way

What undertone does your skin have? 'Pale' is quite a broad category and includes all sorts of skintones.

If you have a yellow undertone (and you can be pale and warm-toned) then try Nars Siberia or Bobbi Brown Alabaster. I wonder if the 'orange' foundations are actually just too pink which can look peachy/orange on people with yellow or orange undertones.

No 7 doesn't go pale enough for the truly pale.

By Terry Cover Expert is good. Aside from the price, and the fact it's called Terry.

I've spent years trying different foundations and eventually found the Clinique one is perfect on me. Also, have you heard of Dainty Doll? It's the Nicola Roberts make up range designed especially for pale skins so is well worth a look.

Pointlessfan · 21/10/2015 14:18

Clarins do an ivory foundation that is really pale. I use it and it's the best one I've found.

Jelly101 · 21/10/2015 14:51

Judging from what the Sales Assistant in Mac said, I have a yellow undertone - I think Hmm. Every time I have been matched it looks great in the store, then as soon as I try the foundation at home it's orange Confused

Some foundations can look perfect on one person and then oxidise horribly on another person who appears to have the same skin tone.

woodscommaelle · 21/10/2015 15:22

I'm really pale so I sympathise. I did use Estée Lauder Double Wear but I looked washed out. I use Tropic now BB cream and then mineral foundation on top. It means I don't need an spf on as well xx Tropic

Katarzyna79 · 21/10/2015 15:43

jelly its coz they've not matched correctly stores have poor lighting its not natural. Tell them to give you 2 different samples one lighter one darker take them away with you try in daylight at home?

I went to 2 Mac stores. The first I wanted to run because the assistant was alone no other staff and her foundation was really caked on and highlighted all the flaws on her face, plus it was too light for her. I was right when she slapped mine on she used the really heavy stuff I hate and powder cream foundation when I told her I wanted liquid. I never bought foundation for few years after that.

Then I went into the Selfridges store to the Mac concession there and they were brilliant lots of staff on hand. perfect match, good too needed it for my wedding.

So try again only with samples though not a full bottle

FrustratedFrugal · 21/10/2015 17:26

OP check out this blog - she is very pale and yellow toned. I'm very pale and cool toned, Lily Lolo and Asian BB creams work for me. Nearly every mainstream foundation is too dark for me.

SparklyTinselTits · 21/10/2015 18:44

I meant to mention Lily Lolo! It's the only thing I've found that matches perfectly. And it's not full of chemicals and crap! Grin

Shutthatdoor · 21/10/2015 18:47

I am palest of pale and the only thing that works for me is bare minerals

TheCatsWhiskers · 22/10/2015 09:47

I use Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua Ultra-Light In 10 Beige. I love it, I mix it with Mac primer if I want a lighter coverage.

Jelly101 · 22/10/2015 10:10

I managed to receive some samples the other day. Can't wait to try them all out. Hopefully, there's one good match!

Estée Lauder in shell I find lovely, I'm almost as pale as it gets. I've also got bobbi brown in alabaster, which I find to be too pale/not enough coverage/slides of my face, as for no7 the palest is far too orange for my skin! I don't think many drug store brands do very pale shades !
