I'm considering having fixed braces

Has anyone got any advice or stories?

I'm recently single after breakup of long marriage and really want to get my crooked teeth fixed. I've wanted to have it done for years and feel that now is the time. New start and all that.
Orthodentist has recommended ceramic (tooth coloured) fixed braces as my teeth are too crooked for invisalign and the treatment will take a year at least.

But I just can't quite make the final decision. There is such a lot going on in my life I'm concerned it will will give me another thing to worry about. Not least, it will make finding a new man even more difficult than it already is at my age (late 40's)!! Do I just 'bite the bullet' so to speak - or do I live my imperfections? Or is this the time where I do things just for me?

Has anyone out there had any experience?

Well, that's me got my braces on Grin

Having the veneers removed was truly the most horrible experience of my life, but no pain. My teeth already look better!!
I'm quiet chuffed that my braces are quite discreet - no pain yet but I'm only 1 hour in. Trying to eat is proving a challenge!!

I am SO pleased I did it. Thank you MNers for your encouragement xx

Bravo!

You sound remarkably chirpy for someone who has just spent hours at the dentist Grin

One of my dc teeth were very very crooked, teeth behind teeth and all kinds. She had to have several taken out I was so crowded She's had her fixed brace on a few months and the difference already is huge!

My dds didn't hurt until about three hours after. Be prepared. It only lasted a day or two though.
