Top and shoes to go with this skirt....

Dear wise ones. I am going to a wedding in a couple of weeks time. I am taking my bottle-refusing baby and need something to wear I can breastfeed in. I was looking at dresses but am hoping to lose a bit more weight so don't really want to buy anything that hopefully won't fit me soon. Also my maternity pay runs out this month so am feeling quite tight!

I have a skirt very similar to this www.reiss.com/p/panelled-aline-skirt-womens-brio-in-light-navyblack/?category_id=1127&_=1445325898261

(If this link doesn't work will try again in next post, have never tried a link before) but in cobalt blue and a slightly lighter silk so a bit puffier. I'd love to wear it as it hides my big fat tummy and shows my legs which are the only part of me that still looks reasonable. But I am dreadful at fashion and also don't know how to dress this new shape I have acquired. I am 5'7, size 12ish, big veiny BF boobs and a mummy tummy with a CS overhang (nice!).

My questions are:

  1. Is it ok to wear this skirt?
  2. Can I wear black tights with it or is that a horrible mistake?
  3. Can you recommend some shoes? I feel like I would like something pretty and unusual, or maybe some boot things, but don't know where to start. I can't walk in heels but have a few weeks to learn for the "right" shoes.
  4. Can you suggest a top? I had in my head a black cashmere ballet cardigan but would that be awful? And if it's ok, where could I buy one from?

I think I would like to spend maybe about £50 on each item but budget is a bit flexible if it is something I would wear again.

Sorry this is long and boring. The wedding is a young cousin of DHs, everyone there is young and beautiful and v v stylish. I really don't want to feel old and frumpy!

Thank you in advance!!

The original link works for me Pers. Unfortunately I am unqualified to advise on style, only links!

PersisFord · 20/10/2015 18:47

Looks like it Grin

Maybe everyone else is so stylish, the thought if me wearing black tights to a wedding has overwhelmed their sensibilities!

It is a boring question. I am bored by it!! But I have to wear something on my top. Not just the baby!!

To tell you the truth, it would be difficutlt to style that skirt for a wedding and breastfeeding. To make it dressy enough I think you'd need to go for something with sequins which would be horrible for breastfeeding in.

PersisFord · 20/10/2015 19:41

Oh no!!! I knew I was useless!! I just can't stand any if the dresses I can BF in, thought skirt and top was perfect solution.

I am clutching at straws (oh please oh please not another wrap dress!!) but what about this ? I can sacrifice my comfortable opaques and shave my legs if it makes it ok....

That's quite nice. It could work.

PersisFord · 20/10/2015 19:58

That's all I need, will buy it now!! And I hate to ask....but what kind of shoes do the young folk wear?

I think these would be nice with your outfit.

Shoes

It will all look well together. Its not the most weddingey outfit in the world but maybe thats ok.

Georgethesecond · 20/10/2015 20:57

That would be lovely!

PersisFord · 20/10/2015 21:31
