Help! Need an outfit for a wedding dooo!

Its not the actual wedding but its a big meal at a pooosh restaurant and a reception later.

I'd got my heart set on a dress but it doesnt have to be a dress I suppose.
I'm a size 10, still carrying a jelly belly, medium norkage, short, pale and dark hair.

Oh and I'll be needing shoes too

I would recommend the dress I'm wearing to DH's xmas doo but it won't work if you are on the short side, but these shoes are fabbola

Bargain party shoes

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 13:00

(are you trying to link to those shoes on every thread, Algernon? )

AlgernonGetYerTubaOut · 04/12/2006 13:02

[rumbled emoticon]

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 04/12/2006 13:04

Omg love the shoes!
I'm so tempted to buy them but knowing me I'll never find an outfit to match.

How short is 'short' ? Do you need petite ranges ?

JackieNoHoHo · 04/12/2006 13:22

How about something like this - bit of a bargain, too.

Lots of good ones at Principles - I love the jade green galaxy-a-like dress ('green lamour shift dress), but may not be forgiving to your 'jelly belly'. Several lovely red ones towards the bottom of the page.

AlgernonGetYerTubaOut · 04/12/2006 13:26

Get some magic pants from M&S or Spanx if you're feeling flush and you can get away with anything ...

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 04/12/2006 13:40

Yeah i was thinking of spanx or something. its not that bad but its there iykwim.
I dont normally buy petit but i'm only 5 3.

[am wrestling Excel and suffering guilt after my boss was on the radio saying how hard we work ]

but try this fabulous red Monsoon dress - also in green, striped, blue print, lace, black with embroidered flowers etc etc - the ruched waist is brilliant for jelly bellies.

Other shops have similar shape (try Principles) but check ruching is actually round waist, not under bust (which exposes vulnerable tummy).

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 04/12/2006 15:37

lol MrsB

I do like that one. It wouldnt break the bank either

I would like to say that the Office shoes are VERY high. I am wearing them as I type (breaking them in for doo), they are already surprisingly comfortable to start with.

Also the silver colour is much more pewter and less 'tin foil' than it appears on the site.

I have measured the heel and they are a whopping 10cm ! Platform is about 1-1.5cm

AlgernonGetYerTubaOut · 04/12/2006 15:38

that red dress is very pretty

AlgernonGetYerTubaOut · 04/12/2006 15:46

I've surprised myself by rather liking this one

NbgSparklyYellowFeathers · 04/12/2006 15:47

Hmmm, not sure about that one NDP.
Not a print kinda girl.
